specialk Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 "Not Guilty", says the jury. Which we all know is not the same thing as "innocent" http://www.sfgate.com/news/crime/article/Jury-could-rewrite-history-of-Led-Zeppelin-s-epic-8320052.php#photo-10419929 Some cool pics of the band from Sam Houston Arena as well.
Hamerica Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 SInce Randy "California" never wanted to pursue this - it should have been left alone. Don't agree with the jury and I hope there is no appeal. Hamerica
hamerhammer Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 It's awfully hard not to "steal" something from someone. There's only a handful of notes and I'm surprised there are any new ways left to arrange them.

The Shark Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 I liken this to the concept of "original thought". There hasn't been much of it for a long, long time. And I believe Zep stole the basic foundation of Taurus. I'm not, however, upset by the verdict. This case should have happened in the seventies.
tomteriffic Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Roger McGuinn put it succinctly many moons ago, lamenting that "You can't copyright a riff". That simple. The whole trial was just so much musical masturbation and a tin of red herrings where the law is concerned. At least Randy California won't be blamed for the volumes of bad riffage emanating from a Guitar Center near you.
Dave Scepter Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2016/04/27/breaking-led-zeppelin-has-already-won-the-stairway-to-heaven-infringement-case/
prototype-fan Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 BUT what about the shark incident (www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/the-10-wildest-led-zeppelin-legends-fact-checked-20121121/led-zeppelin-once-defiled-a-groupie-with-a-mud-shark-19691231)? Is the jury just going to ignore that?
