bubs_42 Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Just FYI in case anyone still likes Checkerboard Stuff. http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/collections/souldier/products/souldier-raceway-checker-2-black-and-white-rick-nielsen-cheap-trick-strap
Steve Haynie Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 My guitar corral has enough original Hamer straps and only one can be used at a time, but there is something about getting one of those reproductions. I need it like I need another black T-shirt.

Hbom Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 There's a real-deal Hamer strap on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/262703615321?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649

gorch Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Greatly worn! I'm using these Planet Waves 50C02

cmatthes Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 It's about time though, seriously. I won't mind taking these out - I get a little nervous taking out the original Hamer checkerboard straps these days...
cynic Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 If you buy one (or more), go here and use the "make an offer" button on Reverb. I submitted a hair more than 15% off and it was accepted. CME is Reverb, so you're not dealing with an unknown seller.
kizanski Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 All this "to do" about a guitar strap totally escapes me.
cmatthes Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Nostalgia? Who knows, and who needs a reason?

I'm not immune to the nostalgia influence on my purchases and project choices, obviously. I think it's more of the frustrated designer on me who sees the checkerboard strap (or any ornate strap for that matter) as a distraction from the guitar itself.
cmatthes Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Think of the frustrated genius players who suffer from people ogling their flashy guitars while ignoring their incredible technique!

velorush Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Look much more authentic than the Levy's I'm currently using. Following Cynic's suggestion, I made an offer on a couple... we'll see. ETA: offer accepted (along with a "mint" Keeley Delay Workstation). Thanks Bubs!
Steve Haynie Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Um, Kiz, are you telling us you have never considered finding appropriate straps for your Townshend guitars?

I had an original Hamer checkerboard strap, new on the package, but I gave it away a couple of years agof. Straps, in my opinion, should be invisible.

They shot me a price on a guitar last spring because the salesmen knew that I had not come in to spend that much money. I said "WOW" and he said "We are in the business of buying and selling not storing guitars." Hopefully by my birthday Dragan and I can make another Chicago Run.
