Hamerica Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Do I spy Pink underneath the back of the headstock by the tuners? Wonder if this was a factory refin? It has a white base with at least two different colors going on. Interesting. Hamerica

Steve Haynie Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Stripped down or gutted guitars scare me off. That Scepter V has a bridge and tuners. If it had a set of strings it would be easier to tell if there is a real problem or not.
cmatthes Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 It's also getting close to the point where restoration costs tacked on will outweigh total value. I'm definitely not in on this one! Good luck to those who are - this guitar should be brought back from the dead.
diablo175 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 It's currently at $816.00 + 50 for shipping with 2 days still to go.

IF you are a talent luthier/repair person and there are some VERY good ones here on the HFC it would be a cool project to bring a rare guitar back to life. Like Chris said by the time you do what needs to be done and have someone else do the work for you its going to be a money pit................ restorable yes but then its never going to be original and worth much less than one that is. Cool guitar though!
Samuelc12qw Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Hello, first time post. I just want to thank anyone who is bidding on or talking about the Scepter V and totally ignored the hot 5 in the pink, a foot in the stink Hamer A7. Made a nice score on a rare model in a rare color. Hamer on!

Welcome to the group, I hope you spend some time and enjoy it here. Two things that you need to understand about us, 1. Hamer guitars are the Lays potato chip of the guitar world. 2. Without pictures nobody will really truly believe it! So, Please comeback often, hide your wallet, AND POST SOME PICTURES OF THAT PRETTY PINK GUITAR!!!

DBraz Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 I can't believe that went for $1526!! That is serious money for a project guitar without guarantees that the only damage is cosmetic. Yikes!

I agree... that's a lot of money for a guitar that had a broken/repaired headstock & may or may not have a straight neck... I couldn't get a clear view, but also looks like the truss rod nut was all messed up... but then again, it is a super rare guitar and maybe a great find for the right person... "absolutely love the color!" ... Major congrats to the winner!... Please do her justice!... I pray that you restore her to her original condition, & if so, pleeeeeeeze post lots of pictures of the restoration process~ as a matter of fact, please PM me and I'd be more than happy to share notes & may have parts for her as well... Dave
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 18, 2016 Author Posted December 18, 2016 Rare guitar but holy crap that went for a TON of cash all things considered...........someone wanted this one bad!.....................throw in the cost to make it right again. WOW! I do hope the guy that bought it will do it justice, very cool guitar for sure.............. but it will not be easy or cheap to bring it back! GOOD LUCK! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-Hamer-USA-Scepter-V-project-guitar-/192054054609?ul_noapp=true&nma=true&si=d1arwWLY7J6lqqujNxC80X51fSg%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 You know I thought that had the original Hamer case but i must have been looking at Dave's Scepter or something else.............this one does NOT,it does not even have a case so that price is just for the guitar.
serial Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 I'll have to check if that was my old Scepter V project. Same champagne color. I think I paid a buck and a half for it and sold it for twicw that on eBay (but not much more). It looks in far worse shape than the one I had and mine didn't have any issues.

I was also thinking that that may have been your old Scepter V... beautiful color!.. kind of sad to see what happened to it though, hopefully the new owner will restored back to its original greatness...
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 18, 2016 Author Posted December 18, 2016 Well IS this the most $$$$ we have seen here on the HFC for a rare Hamer guitar in this kind of condition sell for? When I see a guitar needing so much work as far as a restoration goes selling for this kind of dough it makes me wonder......................... I have not been here as long as some of the members who have seen many Hamers come and go so just asking. This answers that age old question, whats it worth?....................... What the buyer is willing to pay to own it.
diablo175 Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Holy F*ck! $1575.00 for a project? Wouldn't be surprised to see it in a year or so, refurbished, with a price tag of 3 grand and the seller emphasizing it's rarity.
