Hunter_Brown Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 With all due respect to Judas Priest, because in fact musically I like 'em, but for God sake can we put a lid on that pathetic homo-metal fashion statement. They look ridiculous...hell they looked ridiculous 25 years ago, now it's just embarressing.
DaveL Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Oh my god, those dudes look so OLD that I'mstarting to ponder my own mortality!!!!
Armitage Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 That'd be a killer show. I hope they tour through here together.
formula73 Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 With all due respect to Judas Priest, because in fact musically I like 'em, but for God sake can we put a lid on that pathetic homo-metal fashion statement. They look ridiculous...hell they looked ridiculous 25 years ago, now it's just embarressing. I'm not touching that with a 10ft pole.
Steve Haynie Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 With all due respect to Judas Priest, because in fact musically I like 'em, but for God sake can we put a lid on that pathetic homo-metal fashion statement. I don't see anything gay about the stage clothes. They look like a band in those clothes. They set themselves apart with that look. If you look into motorcycle history you will see where some of the elements of Judas Priest's stage clothes came from. When you look back at the 70's rock and roll bands, there was a push for over-the-top presentations. KISS took things as far as they could in one direction, Parliament/Funkadelic took things in another direction, Angel had their look, Alice Cooper did his thing, and Elton John had the outrageous outfits, too. It's about putting on a show!I want to see those biker-leather-on-steroids stage clothes. That is part of the whole Judas Priest image for me.
tombo Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Not mine but Great Hamer shots. Yaa, great shots! I just bought the re-mastered "Screaming For Vengeance", but (and I know I'm not alone here)...EMGs suck
MCChris Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 I want to see those biker-leather-on-steroids stage clothes. That is part of the whole Judas Priest image for me. Exactly. If they just got up there in T-shirts and jeans it would defeat the purpose.
Jorge Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 klaus meine rules. he looks dumb, but the best rock voice ever, IMHO.
MCChris Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 he looks dumb ...which effectively makes it impossible for him to rule. And his cartoonish butchery of the English language is the stuff of an SNL skit. How that band became that popular with that ridiculous fool as the frontman is astonishing.Yes, Klaus Meine is to MCC as John Mayer is tio BadgerDave.
BTMN Posted March 22, 2005 Author Posted March 22, 2005 Why's someone always gotta say it sucks. Damn ya'll a testy bunch lately. Can't get a good vibe going for nothing around here anymore. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know free speech and all that.... carry on and flame away! Klaus and the Scorps RAWK STFU!!!
Hunter_Brown Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 I want to see those biker-leather-on-steroids stage clothes. That is part of the whole Judas Priest image for me. Exactly. If they just got up there in T-shirts and jeans it would defeat the purpose. As a 13 year old in 1982, sure there was some level of demi-god like reverence with the whole metal outfit thing. As a 36 year old in '05 they're just old guys in silly clothes. If their purpose as a touring band is to remind us all of those bong-tokin days and inject a couple hours of good ole nestaglia into our portfolio shufflin' lives, then granted the get-ups match the business plan. But if they're hoping to sustain any credibility as a path forward veteran rock band that can still write and perform, the outfits are dated, unforgiving and virtual laughing stocks.Personally I think the music is good and although consistent with Judas Priest's multi generational sound, it still feels new and creative to a certain degree. I'd like to see their image show the same pregessive attitude. Just my lil'ole opinion.

(with heavy German accent) Like a Hurricane, Baby!! Now that song will be in my head for the rest of the day, hehe oh hell, can't get the color right
Hamer95USA Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Hey you Metal heads, I wanted to respond to some of the positive and upbeat comments made on this post. I also perform in a Judas Priest tribute band called "Screaming For Vengeance":I don't see anything gay about the stage clothes. They look like a band in those clothes. They set themselves apart with that look.If you look into motorcycle history you will see where some of the elements of Judas Priest's stage clothes came from. I agree wholeheartedly with Steve Haynie on his point of view about Judas Priest. I still love classic heavy metal, but other kinds of music as well, so I'm not stuck in that "I'm metal only" mode of thinking that a lot of rockers project. I also happen to be a versatile guitarist who actually plays in a couple of other Top 40 cover bands besides my Judas Priet tribute band.I just bought the re-mastered "Screaming For Vengeance", but (and I know I'm not alone here)...EMGs suck I would have to disagree with Tombo on his opinion. I've seen Judas Priest live quite a number of times. Glenn Tipton and KK Downing get great consistent guitar tones in their live show on their custom made Hamer USA guitars with EMG pickups in them. I have a couple of guitars with EMG in them and I think they sound killer. I especially like the EMG 85s in my '96 Les Paul Custom, my EMG DG-20s in my '84-'87 Fender MIJ Strat w/ factory installed Kahler Spyder and my EMG 85, SA, 81 custom set on my homemade Strat w/ a gold Kahler 2760 Steeler bridge. I've used these guitars on gigs, jam nights and studio work. I find their sound, low impedance, good tone and noiseless operation perfect for what I do. I know that most of you will probably disagree with me since the majority of the HFC is into passive pickups on their Hamer USA guitars. Just to be the devil's advocate, I have kept the stock guitar pickups on my '94 Diablo II (Dimarzio Norton Lite, HS-2 and Tone Zone) and my '90 Chapparal Elite 90 ( Seymour Duncan Trembuckers). My '95 Archtop Sunburst has Gibson Burstbucker Pro guitar pickups on it, which I absolutely love. That being said, if the guitar pickups sound good on your guitar, effects and amp setup, that's the one you go with. I apologize for hijacking the thread about the EMG comments. Klaus Meine rules. he looks dumb, but the best rock voice ever, IMHO Klaus Meine is a great singer, frontman and entertainer. He looks great onstage, has a great voice and know how to work a crowd. He even taught Don Dokken how to sing. If you listen to Don Dokken, he has taken certain phrases or vocal inflections from Klause's style. If I had a singer like Klause Meine in my band, I would be happy to be working with that person. Oh, I forgot, I have a great singer in my band that sings exactly like Rob Halford who's straight, has a girlfriend and is a cool guy!! Guitar George
jisham Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 With all due respect to Judas Priest, because in fact musically I like 'em, but for God sake can we put a lid on that pathetic homo-metal fashion statement. They look ridiculous...hell they looked ridiculous 25 years ago, now it's just embarressing. Pathetic homo metal? Dude, I don't even know who you are but you should know some of us who've been here a helluva long time are gay and I'm one of 'em. Believe whatever preconceived stereotype you want to believe about the clothes or whatever but this is one place I come where I shouldn't have to put up with statements like those or some of the other recent threads here.
princeofdarkness56 Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Hey, it looks like a heavy metal band to me. Least I know there won't be any lip syncing or diva acts on the bill. Tell me when and where and I am there.
phoenix Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Thanks for the pics as always Gene. I love concert footage, especially since I can't get to many post family. Please keep it up.I think outfits are part of the fun of any SHOW. Strange how they weren't 'homo' befor Halford revealed things that were none of our business.

Just ignore the guy. There are plenty of funny wiseasses here who make this place fun. This guy isn't one of them and his crap is getting old.
hardheartedbill Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 no shit, this trolls act is wearing thin.
Brooks Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 i think priest would look stupid if they suddenly started to wear baggy pants/knit caps/wallet chains in an effort to "update" their image. iirc, several 80's bands like warrrant and dokken tried to change their image in the 90's and alienated the few fans they had left.props to jaye also, it takes guts to call out a troll on a public forum the way he did. most of us wouldn't make a racial slur online, so please think twice about disparaging folks who are different.
Brooks Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 oh yeah, hamer95's profile pic makes alot more sense now that i know he plays in a priest tribute!edited for editing purposes
Steve Haynie Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 For the record, Hunter has been with us a while. I do not consider him a troll.
jisham Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 For the record, Hunter has been with us a while. I do not consider him a troll. I don't care how long he's been here...what he wrote is still out of line. And FOR THE RECORD: I'm NOT backing off this time. I've laid low the past few weeks and seen him and others make alot of really offensive statements that I just let go. But not this time. This shit GETS OLD.
