Yep, just saw it, where the toggle would be. Very cool.

I'm having a martini glass painted on top of the knob.
It has taken just a year and a half so far.

Perfect. Lol. I'm insanely jealous of that axe.

The backstory, alone, was a great read.  Need to hunt that shit up and read it again.

If a guitar is build by a Banker, then I guess it will be considered a "lawyer guitar" then?

Seriously, I thought I'd just seen one of these on Instagram and I was right. It was on the Destroyallguitars account last week.

At this price, for an unknown brand, the Hamer Korina Vectors and Standards are really a bargain.

Still, cool.

The diagonal grain orientation v. grain that runs parallel to the neck/strings is interesting...I'm assuming that it's because they need a smaller board for a one-piece body?

I dig it.

I do too, except for the neck joint and the cutout in the maple top.

Notice that gap in the route at the very end of the neck?

Doesn't bother me.  it's covered by the pickguard, after all (which I also like).

I see what you mean. The back looks weird to me. Perhaps it does not matter tone wise. But it does not look right.

Compare it to the grain of a Hamer Standard Korina

That Standard is a thing of beauty

I started following Banker on instagram a few months ago. Seems like they are most known for their Korina Vs and Explorers. There are some pretty impressive posts of him doing headstock overlays with india ink and things like that. They are an "authorized Gibson parter" which I'm guessing means they are allowed to use the correct body and headstock shapes?  Not sure exactly.  Whatever the deal is, they look like really nice guitars though I'm sure they are very expensive.

No volume or tone controls. Hmm

And intonation looks to be challenging. Or does that tailpiece have saddles I'm not seeing?

Intonation is for pussies...  😉

It seems like a lot of people here have never heard of Banker Guitars, so let me fill you in a bit. He’s a solo builder from Georgia, who is one of the very few who has worked out a deal with Gibson to legally produce vintage-spec Gibson shapes (he pays them a royalty). He’s an Authorized Partner. He has a few big-name endorses, like Brent Hinds from Mastadon and several other artists. His axes fetch a pretty penny (in the $4K+ range) and I’ve never heard a bad word spoken about his builds. This Explorer is a bit of an odd duck, but it was probably a custom order at first. I actually like it, but I’d get a different color pickguard. He sells direct and also has a deal with CME, which always seems to get a few in stock every year, but sell out almost immediately.

I’ve followed him on IG and TGP. Seems like a nice dude and is always willing to share his knowledge. Frankly, as an aspiring builder, he’s up there with Mike Shishkov in my eyes and I’d love to build guitars as well as they do and have the following as well.
