BCR Greg Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Last Wednesday, in Miami. Today, in Lemoyne, Pa. Fresh out of the Fed Ex truck. Yup, that's a 1959 TV Special that Sonic Rick and I were using as part of a deal. I WAS going to use it Saturday night. Now I can't. It was packed well and STILL managed to get waxed. Shit.
tomteriffic Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Shit, indeed  Hope my Standard is OK. The box looks fine, but it's still warming up in there....
mattb Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 FUCK!!!!! That sucks! Sorry man.Who did you use to ship? EDIT: Sorry I missed the FedEX....
tomteriffic Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Johnny, yeah, it is.Greg, I know a guy in Lemoyne who, I hear, is pretty good at fixing that kind of stuff.
SirDouglas Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005  oh damn dood that sucks ass....... hold on ill get the glue gun.... i have faith in yer ability to fix ....Sir Douglas  Randy
darc Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I hope you insured it well and that you get every penny of it. How does FedEx handle damage settlements if you opt to keep the damaged goods?
sonicblue1960 Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Yeah, that really sucks, and whats worse, the freaking girl at Fedex Kinkos wrote down $3000 instead of $5000 like I told her to insure it for!!!I read Fedex the riot act, I can understand that accidents can happen , but the error on the part of the shipping clerk is just not acceptable.I actually thought Greg was playing a joke on me, the jokester that he is, but i could tell by his tone of voice that it was for real! But, no one got hurt and it will all work out allright, these are the times when I know all my great attitude will pay off.
Turdus Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Just an observation.... That must have been an early '59 . I've read many times in the Gibson LP book, that they moved the pickup farther into the body, as that was apparently the point where many broke. And it made it all these years.... real sorry to see that. Good luck with the damage claim.
clmazza Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Man that blows! It just wrenches my gut when I see something like that.I recently had a bad experience with FedEx. I shipped a guitar from Joisey to Oregon... only to have the headstock compressed into the case creating two major divots in the wood. The box was compressed so much that the binding on the edges of the guitar were dented flat.It was shipped insured and needless to say I'm still battling with FedEx over the damage. This occurred in June.I really don't know who is better the Brown Reaper of FuxUs....
pesocaster Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 OH man that doesn't just suck........ that F-ING Sucks!!!!!!!!!Looking at that gives me the feeling of just getting kicked in the mother-of-nutsack.... Sorry to see that.... at least it's already at the proper doctors office....
hamerhead Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 That really does make you sick to your stomach, doesn't it? Just how far do you have to throw a package to achieve that result? Assholes.
HSB0531 Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Even getting paid the insurance claim doesn't do it for me.That's a piece of history there.F'ing idiots! This is why I DROVE my 4-digit Hamer Standard Bass to Greg. That's 9 hours round trip each time for me.But ya'know, it only takes one idiot at fedex or UPS(spell that Oops) to trash a great guitar or bass. And that's why I won't ship anything without a wooden flight case.
tomteriffic Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Bastiges didn't wreck my guitar, but they managed to break the case. Scared the kwap outta me.
Guest gtr Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 What a horrible break!!!Is Fed Ex your preferred carrier?
David B Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 God, that made me feel sick on my stomach and it's not even mine. Hopefully you can fix it & get the $3000.
cmatthes Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Guys, that is the ugliest thing I've seen today. Like DavidB, I got that sick feeling just looking at that one (yep, I'm partial to 50s TVs).Hope that gets resolved quickly...
kizanski Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Is Fed Ex your preferred carrier? Not anymore!
Bob P Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Greg that really sucks. No doubt you can fix it but there is a piece of American history forever damaged/altered. Money cannot make up for that damage- it can make it easier to stomach but it cannot make up for it.From a players standpoint- some of the best sounds I've ever heard from a Gibson electric guitar came out of instruments with headstock or heel breaks.Perhaps a Tom Murphy broken peghead, Grovered (and then returned to Kluson tuners showing the extra holes) reissue may be in order to make sure Henry J gets his next bonus.Don't mean to make a joke- that is truly sad. Hope it works out and give us an update on the patient's progress.
Bruiser Brody Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Wow..that's horrible. Sorry to both of y'all.
hamertek98 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 That wasted my day, too. Double fuck! Good luck with everything!
Disturber Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Damn, I feel for you guys.Someone shoot the driver.
