I had a Kendrick clone of a 5E3 Deluxe years ago, I liked it a lot except for two things: 1. I couldn't keep from maxing the volume on it as the amp sounded so good when I did that; and 2. It practically made everything I played sound way too close to Ragged Glory/Weld-era Neil Young, so I eventually sold it as I didn't want to get into a playing rut.

I've spent a few hours with it, updated firmware to latest version and learned how to import Toneprints. So far I am really amazed at how many things this can do and the execution is very useable. I now have tons of additional capabilities on this tiny board, not to mention quite a few pedals I no longer need. The best surprise was the toggle switch - it allows choosing among effect types within a given preset. So, for example, if the preset is Reverb, I can toggle through Cathedral, Hall, Plate, Room and Shimmer. If the preset is Flashback, I can toggle through the different options found on the face of the Flashback pedal (2290, Analog, etc.). If I download an artist preset, the stock presets for that pedal remain available via the toggle. Additionally, each of the seven presets can be run in an A/B mode where the footswitch chooses between two effects, meaning the capacity is 14 presets if run in that mode, but each preset can be set to normal or A/B mode. The X3 and X5 would really comprise a complete pedalboard (excluding drives, of course) so long as the user was satisfied with the TC effects. Looking forward to receiving the CIOKS ISO later this week and maybe finishing this whole thing off next weekend.

I have some something similar, but I mount the opposite sex connector in the block of wood. 1/4" jack in the wood for soldering 1/4” instrument cables- insert plug into jack, solder cable to lugs. It makes more of a difference with XLR, as the jack can serve as a heatsink. The pins get hot, but transfer heat to the jack connector before the plastic gets soft and the pins can get wonky. Same with female XLRs, mount a male panel-mount connector in the wood, and attach the unsoldered female connector to it, then solder cable.

Take like a roll of duct or clear packing tape and lay it on its side with a 4x4" or so piece of cardboard placed on top. You can then use a sharp pencil or the like to poke a pilot hole then jam the 1/4'' right tru and it holds perfectly while you solder. Caveman tool that works great.

With something this simple modifications are almost required!!!

Saw one guy widen it out under the hole and put jacks there to keep it in place better

Just Drill a 1/4" hole in a piece of scrap wood. For mic cables drill 3 1/8" holes in the right spots. Works great

It has arrived. But a bit of a road bump (and I should have anticipated this) this thing requires a 250mA supply(!). That renders my humble Voodoo Labs Iso 5 obsolete, but I can run a separate One Spot temporarily. Only a few minutes with it but it’s pretty amazing so far, especially for what it cost. Suddenly, a seldom used place on the board is occupied by just about any type of pedal in a single space. Now for a new power supply. Anyone use the CIOKS ISO? ETA: CIOKS ISO ordered. Delivery scheduled for Wednesday.

The 67 isn't defined by just the headstock. The body near the neck is totally different carve.

I've got a small stash, but nothing huge. I do have a bunch of SED EL34 tubes, and a pair of SED 6L6GCs, but for preamp tubes, I really got on the boat too late. Also, I'm pretty sure the audiophile crowd, who pay $600 for a 3 foot RCA cable / interconnect, are the ones most responsible for hoarding and driving up the prices. One of the guys who worked at the local music shop where I take lessons had helped clean out a lot of old music shops in NYC, and many of them just kept all the discarded tubes in boxes. The stuff they found from the days when tubes were just replaced routinely was insane.

I will say, this moved from being a face-palm thread to a pretty damn cool thread.
