Best app for cataloging and valuing large CD collection
velorush replied to Jeff R's question in Ask the HFC Experts
We bought some stupid expensive bar code scanners for use in our warehouses. They were overkill. We wound up with some inexpensive Amazon units that are much more user-friendly. Something like this works great. https://a.co/d/09SUuhth Open Excel and scan each UPC label. That should get you enough information to document what you've got. All that would remain would be to assign a value to each and then total. I would be extremely tempted to hand the completed Excel workbook to ChatGPT and see what it could do in the way of valuation. Might be a trainwreck, but if it worked it would be extremely quick about it. -

Damn, Willie. Be careful! That's gotta hurt like hell. Haynie is right - you'll be known as Chuck Moseley from now on. Take care, Bud. - Today

Have not. But I am thinking about it. I ordered the new tube 11 but that's all lately.

Mine is pretty bad but once I chose to see it as a badge of honor, I can ignore it pretty easily. What bothers me most is knowing I'm missing some of the finer details of great music. My drummer has it in a slightly lower frequency range than me so it's always fun mixing music with him around. We each hear it a little differently. My way is always right. I've seen/read conflicting results on the tongue-shocking method. I think it has a lot to do with your mindset.

Mike, I am proud, honored and grateful to able call one of your works my own. It is truly a highlight of my musical journey. While I can never thank you enough, I can send thoughts, prayers, mojo, juju and every other kind of positive energy your way, and hope you understand the amount of love and respect you have garnered from this community. Let us know if you need anything.

Best app for cataloging and valuing large CD collection
Jeff R posted a question in Ask the HFC Experts
I am getting ready to move my wife and I and our businesses 1,800 miles across country. I am considering liquidating my sizable compact disc collection rather than moving it. If my library makes the move, however, I need to catalog and value it for moving insurance purposes. My library has been boxed up for years and I don't know the quantity, but I'd guess a few thousand titles. I'm sure there are plenty of imports/rarities in the mix. I need an app that will allow me to quickly scan the CDs via barcodes and/or album covers ... ... that IDs, organizes the library, and assigns fair market values individually and/or in common or user-defined subsets. Being able to download data into spreadsheets for whenever it's time to sell would be a huge, huge plus. I will pay a reasonable subscription fee for the ideal tool. I'd love to hear what the much more serious CD collectors and buy/sell/traders use for their own libraries and catalogs. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. -
Yup. I have it to moderate degree. No doubt, the result of years of loud rehearsals & shows. When it first manifested, it drove me a little crazy. Now, I don't even notice unless I focus on it.

Sorry, hard for me to take something seriously that appears to use Comic Sans font. -
^-- This. Mike, you've certainly made my life brighter. You are absolutely blessed with a gift. I hope your health improves. That is far more important than anything else. You and Trish are good people!

I've had it since I was in my early 20s if not before. Only thing I've found that works is learning to ignore and a white noise machine.

Mike - you have brought SO MUCH joy and energy to this little corner of the Internet and those of us fortunate enough to have landed here and been part of this community over the last 28 years. Your talent is a rare gift, but we all know that YOU are the real engine and vision behind the art youāve created, and we all appreciate this. As you and I have discussed often, we only get one life and have to make the most of our time and try our best to make things a little bit brighter for others. Youāve done that, and continue to do that - weāre here for you and hope that even a slight reduction in stress will make a difference with things. Hang in there, and know you have more people who truly care about you out here!

Yeah... you're right again. I'm not knowledgeable enough. I heard differently about Bun E. Carlos. More bad information on my end as usual. Seeing all the Data breeches lately I just didn't want to give my Biometric data. It can be used against you if it is hacked. I just thought it would be more inspiring to see some of these pieces in a museum. I'm nieve that way and it's been pointed out. Thanks again for all your insight and knowledge as always Chris! You're the best! If I upset anyone with my posts, it isn't my intention to do so. M

My friends, I know itās been quite a while since Iāve posted here or shared any new builds, and I wanted to take a moment to explain why. Due to ongoing health issues, Iāve had to step back from guitar building for the time being. It was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make in my life. In my early teens, after picking up a chisel to make a guitar for myself and shavings started to fly, I knew immediately "this was for me". It became my passion, and thatās why itās been such a difficult decision, building guitars has been something Iāve genuinely loved doing and sharing with all of you. I realize the long silence may have left some people wondering what happened, so I wanted to put something out there rather than leave people guessing. The truth is simply that my health has had to take priority, and guitar building has had to take a back seat. Iām not sure what the future holds or when Iāll be able to return to building. For now, Iām taking things one day at a time and focusing on what I need to. I would like to say special thanks to all of my HFC friends who followed and supported my work at Hamer. Your dedication, encouragement, and enthusiasm were so inspiring, Shishkov Guitars was born. I really enjoyed working very closely with each and every one of you, creating a truly unique instrument and I am grateful for the many friendships that have developed. Perhaps in my small special way I was able to keep the āDreamā alive, if only for a few years. To me this is priceless and will forever have a special place in my heart! So for now, I need to take a break, take care of my health, recharge, and get back into it⦠Thank you for understanding. šø

What???? I can hear you... Speak up! my tinnitus is acting up.... Yes I have it but it isn't too bad. Even taking a blood pressure medication that can increase it. Still sucks. Hope there is finally a cure. If only there was as much interest in this as erectile disfunction studies.

I've had it about 5 years now. Maybe longer, I just may not have noticed it. I've tried every home remedy.

@Hbom, have you tried the Super 7 Sugar? -
I have been dealing with it for nearly 30 yearsā¦. Docs all tell me it is incurable cause it was (in my case) caused by ear damage (jet engine exposure).
