bruce919 Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Cancelled...... due to lack of interest & me being a hack of a guitar player.
bubs_42 Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Just over 3hours from me, sounds great, straight shot!
marcnorth Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Cool deal. Straight up 421. I live about 2 or 3 blocks from 421.If I'm still alive I'll be there.
Thundernotes Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Just over 15 hours for me. It's entirely possible that I could make it. I've been meaning to get out to Champaign, IL which is only 3hrs away. Maybe this will work out.
belgian Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Cool, September I might be in the area. If Butcher can do those, I can too.... How far is New Harford from there ?

cmatthes Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Butcher is everywhere...I have seen the flux capacitor in his red BMW convertible though - I think that is the secret ingredient.
belgian Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 2 1/2 -3 hours from me, maybe less. Do you support "couch" tourism ?
tomteriffic Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 2 1/2 -3 hours from me, maybe less. Do you support "couch" tourism ? Of course! But be warned, I'm told the beer here is bleedin' awful.
ctrixie Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 It is now set. I have found a few local drummers & bass players, but if you have any buddies who do either please invite. Me & a certain bass player will be there - with some gear
Bloozguy Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 A mere 9 hours, 14 minutes away...according to Mapquest. I'll be there (+1 on the "if I'm still alive").Hey Twin Cities folks...caravan?...motorhome?
JohnnyThunders Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I'll be there not sure if I'll bring any gear but maybe my 100 watt Matamp so I can open it up and melt some shit.
MCChris Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I'll be there not sure if I'll bring any gear but maybe my 100 watt Matamp so I can open it up and melt some shit.Yeah, that town ain't gonna know what hit it.
elduave Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I'll be there not sure if I'll bring any gear but maybe my 100 watt Matamp so I can open it up and melt some shit.I have not posted guidelines for the jam yet but I would like to keep with a past rule of guitar amps that are 30 watts or less please.Sounds like fun!

Johnny needs the clean headroom!
MCChris Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 This was noted at past midwest Jams & I did not hear any one balk then?I thought you said this was a BIG room, brah.
Thundernotes Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 This was noted at past midwest Jams & I did not hear any one balk then? It's your party - lay down the law! Who wants ear-bleeds from "I want you to surrender" or "Mustang Freebird" anyway? If this "big room" is akin to a high-school gymnasium, volume is automatically going to be a problem. If I might offer a suggestion: backline the stage with an assortment of pre-approved amps and be done with it. I've done this at weekly jam sessions with great success. It also reduces change-up time between acts dramatically. One overpowered instrument f***s up the whole mix for everybody. You have the right idea.

Where is it written that a 100-watt amp has to be turned up all the way? My 6V6 Valvetechs are only 22 watts; if you don't think they can knock down a horse at 10 paces, you're mistaken. Besides, like I said, Johnny's just wanting maximum clean headroom for those Knopfler-esque lines he likes to play.
silentman Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Certainly low powered amps are not much quieter volume wise than there higher powered cousins. Like chris said - it's a definitely a headroom thing.
MCChris Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 And another thing: drummers and sound guys dictate volume, not guitar players.
