  1. I've been playing my hard tail Comanche a lot lately. It's mighty fine.

  2. I am trying to pare my collection down to a reasonable number (by my standards) and have 4 for sale at what I think are great prices. With tariffs hitting the total price to import and others (like Vaschenko) no longer shipping to the US, here's your chance to grab some great, high quality guitars at a significant discount to what it would likely take you to get one from outside the US. I've linked to my website which includes detailed descriptions and plenty of pictures. 1979 Tokai Les Paul Reborn LS-80 - $2,300 now $2,100 plus actual shipping - Tokai LS-80 2020 Vaschenko Single Cut Semi Hollow - $2,200 now $2,000 plus actual shipping - Vaschenko Single Cut 2008 MIJ Dean Hardtail Pro - $800 now $700 plus actual shipping - Dean Hardtail 2018 History NT-C3 Acoustic - $700 now $600 plus actual shipping - History Acoustic Please reach out with any questions, I'll answer them quickly.

  4. No affiliation, but local to me. Certainly willing to lend an assist if he won't ship. For those who can't see a FB listing, the asking price is $2,500 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/798384062580719?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A051d50f3-1b68-49b5-b748-8bb5c8a5ee4a

  5. Makes sense regarding import volumes, hope they can continue. In my opinion, anyone looking for Fender flavor guitars should have G&L on the list. Our other guitar player has an older ASAT and bass. Think early 90s. Both sound and play great and are light. I haven’t played a newer one.

  6. Hi all, I’ve been on the lookout for a Futura for a while now so thought I’d put my feelers out in case there’s one gathering dust out there looking for a new home. I’m not interested in the Korean version. I’m open to buying, trading or a mix of trade/cash either way. Possible trade items include some lovely Californians and a Korina Vector, plus other non-Hamer stuff. Please message me if you’d like to discuss, or if you have any leads.

  8. I certainly hope not. The saddle lock bridges are insanely good for a hardtail. I just wish pretty much that I was more of a strat guy. At least there are and will be a good number on the secondary market. But the videos I have seen were pretty much right: they suck at marketing their product. I don't know if it's the company or more the dealer reps they send out, but they pretty much should have "Leo's ideas, perfected" (even if it isn't really true) or maybe "the final evolution of Leo's designs". I didn't really understand what Ed Friedland was talking about with G&L basses until I got one. Now, I understand.

  9. I was watching Phil on Know Your Gear and he mentioned it. I'm in the "Fender will absorb it like the blob." Then start shitting out crappy G&L's. American G&L guitars are great guitars...BUT... They are so close to Fenders those that can't tell a good guitar from a crappy guitar are going to buy the name on the headstock. The best Strat's I've ever owned where not Fender Custom shop made and I had plenty of them. They where a Hamer Daytona and a Meloncon. Fenders custom shop strats where fussy, didn't like the weather changes guitars have to endure in the Dakota's.

  10. I don't know how many of you pay much attention to the internet scuttlebutt, but there have been a few youtube videos as well as posts everywhere that G&L Guitars is not really doing great, and that they may close their doors. There are also rumors that fender is going to buy them. Judging by the dealers I follow and social media, it would seem like that wouldn't be the case, but one never knows. They started selling through Sweetwater a few years back, and they always have made a product, so it would be a shame for them to go away, especially when they make what is, IMHO, the best feeling non-locking dual fulcrum tremolo ever made. They also make fantastic basses, so I for one would be sad to see them go away.

  12. This Legacy is my #1. She takes a beating, gets drenched in sweat and stays in tune for every set. I echoplex that statement. My spring of '96, and one of the last of the three-bolt plates. This guitar absolutely slays in every way in which you can grade a guitar.

  13. It would be heart breaking to see G&L get swallowed up by Fender but I wouldn't be surprised. Honestly, I don't feel that they have been building them as well as they did in the Nineties. I have 3 ASATs, 1 Legacy and 1 Comanche from that period and they are fantastic. This Legacy is my #1. She takes a beating, gets drenched in sweat and stays in tune for every set.

  14. No, it’s more of a thin flat profile. It just doesn’t fit my hand, I prefer them chunkier.

  15. I had a MIJ Dean Soltero before (and a USA Hardtail) and whoever scores that MIJ Hardtail should really love it, quality craftsmanship off the charts! GLWTS! A lot of guitar for the money!

  16. That guitar ticks a lot of boxes for me. I prefer a Kahler, single pickup, inline headstock.

  17. I've got a late '80s Skyhawk, it's a better strat than most, the pickups sound fantastic, the wider/flatter neck is a matter of taste

  18. I really like ASATs a lot. I'd be sad to see this brand go, and though Phil McKnight's video @Dutchman mentioned is pretty interesting in explaining just how much of the work the US factory does these days is QC on the imports because that is such a huge part of their business. I imagine the tariff chaos very well might be what has hurt them so bad if that is so much of what they do.

  21. He wanted to ship it in a palette crate. I could imagine a FedEx loader driving a fork lift into it. I helped someone else figure out how to use two boxes for shipping me a larger Rick Nielsen numbered RNK Korina to me no problem. He even made it thinner. When I shipped a Standard to Switzerland 20 years ago, I went a local packing and shipping store that makes custom boxes using a fabrication machine with a ton of presets. The guy who knows it all there took one look at the Standard case, without taking out his tape measure, and said out loud "baby bed mattress box." He took me to a small stack in their warehouse - said they kept them in stock for people moving and/or storing baby beds in attics between childbirths. Takeaway: Check in with your local mattress superstore, they may give you an adequate box before they dumpster or recycle it.
