  1. I’ve got my Red Korina Hamer and a pair of Gibson ‘67 RI Flying Vees. A KKV I used to have moved along years ago… All are really super light, play and sound great.
  2. Sounds like you are making out quite well with this one!!
  3. Indeed. Cindy worked as an apprentice under Rock Kelly at Carmine St., but puts her own twist on the builds she does - maybe more on the “art” side of lutherie with her intricate wood burning, gilding and other cool techniques.
  4. I kinda grabbed a used UK version a few years ago for a ridiculously low price…and still bagged in the box. I’ve had great experiences using that to drive a 2x12 AC30 aux cab I had lying around. It’s got serious volume and sounds like a VOX or Marshall combo…if you were blindfolded.
  5. I may have to try that on an amp that I gigged with in the 90s/early ‘00s. Pulled it out of storage and the pots are mostly super scratchy.
  6. They played fine, but I had a tough time getting past that weight on the big body. My non-chambered Standards have all been pretty lightweight by comparison.
  7. I’ve never owned a Standard (nor a Shishkov) that weighed more than maybe 8.5 lbs. I’ve played a few boat anchors, but they’re pretty rare in my experience.
  8. That’s a true beaut! I wish Hamer had used white or cream “long bat” switches back then, but they’ve always been tough to track down (which is probably why Hamer used the black ones!). Great look…
  9. This is the awning from “The Cool Man’s” shop that used to hang at 825 S. Burke St. in Winston-Salem, NC. It was outside The Ramkat where I stopped by to catch Mitch Easter reprising his Let’s Active catalog tonight. The awning had disappeared from view after Sam passed away years ago, and I hadn’t seen it in person since the ‘90s. More cool Hamers passed under this awning in the ‘80s than most places, and I spent a good chunk of time in there, ogling his custom orders. I bought my first Hamer (a Ferrari Red ‘81 Special) in that shop as a 19 year old. Anyway it brought back some happy memories, so I wanted to share…
  10. I truly miss Gil’s shop being right down Old Georgetown Road from my house. I spent way too many hours - and money - in there over the years!
  11. She’s on my favorite podcast with Tom Beaujour and Dave Hill. They’ve had some decent Hamer content on there…
  12. Who the hell makes up finish names? "Shiraz Red"...kiss my Sparkleberry ass.
  13. I had tickets for the DC show a couple of weeks ago, but it got moved to March.
  14. Mr. Wanchick also had a black single pickup/Sustainblock Standard - I remember seeing that one on SCTV years and years ago ('82), when the guitar was new. An HFC'er owns that one now.
  15. The original Wilkinsons from the 90s should be standard. After the Gotoh acquisition, they converted most of the new product to metric. Compare a VSV-G trem from the mid-90s to the more recent product and they're different.
  16. I think the owner of 0 2112 has one that's pretty close!
  17. I'm dying to know about its "acoustic voice"...
  18. Damn.
  19. Just out of curiosity, what's the serial? I know if two other opaque blue ones like that, and one is owned by a member here. Wondering if they were all in the same batch?
  20. It can happen! My son was 6'3" in these pics (he's 6'4" now), and the Juniors look like toys...
  21. You win this week!
