Love that.

It had 2 mini toggles when I got it - 1 looked stock (not sure if it was), the other kinda jammed in along side it. My pea brain couldn't comprehend it all, as neither functioned in a way that made sense to me. Which is why I was wondering what the stock configuration was. Not sure about a blend control. I mean I get it, but the separate volume on the Fishman should accomplish the same thing, no? If I can't find out how it came from Hamer, I'd go with a stacked pot for the normal pickups, a regular volume control for the Fishman, and no blend/mini switches at all. The cleaner the better. Who from the factory might have such knowledge? Who was their wiring guy? Is there anyone I can ask?

As you know, I picked up what seems to be a fairly rare Nashville(?) T-51F From Dave's: Great little guitar. Everything appeared to be original, except for the added mini toggle, possibly the pots, and the associated nasty wiring. I did a quicky rewire to make it functional from stuff I had laying around (it's not pretty), but now would really like to put it back to the way it came out of the factory. The problem is, I don't know what that is. The Fishman and middle pickup takes it out of the 'normal' Tele realm and I don't know where to even begin looking. Help! ...here we go again....

That's a Californian, no? It seems suspiciously clean for a 40-year-old guitar. All the gold looks new. Most gold plating comes off if you just look at it too hard. The chrome on the pickups look out of place. And the guitars in the background are projects. Too many unknowns. I'd want my own eyeballs on it before shelling out what I'm sure is a fairly large pile of $$$. Beautiful guitar. If it is what he says it is, it would be hard to resist.

That price is becoming more of the ballpark. Might be a little high given the non-original parts, but we're almost to the '$1350 is the new $350' point.

That is the only 're-boot' Hamer I've ever seen. Looks nice. Not that it matters, but where are they making those?

A quick search shows nobody makes bell-shaped concentric knobs. Somebody might, but I didn't find it. You could keep two bell knobs in the first 2 positions by leaving them as regular volume controls, then use a concentric pot w/ master tone in the third. Just pleasepleaseplease don't drill it.

Had one exactly like that in the early '80s. It's what started the whole Junior thing for me. Sold it to pay the rent (somewhere around $300). Still bums me out.

There was nothing about that kid that didn't impress the hell out of me. He is absolutely on top of every facet of his music. Wicked talent there.

Back when bands weren't autotuned/pitchcorrected/computerized into a steaming pile and still sounded fucking great. I always forget just how good these guys were live.

^^^But how brave do you want to be with a $3K guitar? Also, the ones used for pegboard - DON'T DO IT! Learnt the hard way - the 'weld' broke and dropped a relatively light guitar onto my LP. I was saddened by the occasion.

Fits: LP, Hamer Special/Junior/Studio/Artist, Shishkov DC (with a little coaxing), Mitchell MS450 (a bit loose). I'm sure there's more, but that's what I got. I use one in place of my original 46-year-old LPC case. It's a great snug fit and far more robust.

What I liked best about Ace was his sense of humor. Gene would sit with a stick up his ass and Ace would be cracking jokes in spite of himself. He also had some good riffs that a young wanna-be me could steal and show off to the girls. Thanks and R.I.P., Ace. Rock and Roll wouldn't have been the same without you.
