JGale Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Highly recommend the Stewmac guitar shipping system. It says up to 12PSI but don't!! if it gets on a plane it'll rupture at altitude. Stick to 4PSI as it inflates to full size with considerably more cushion for pushion. https://www.stewmac.com/luthier-tools-and-supplies/supplies/guitar-shipping/electric-guitar-shipping-system/ 4 Quote
DaveH Posted June 5 Posted June 5 @Crywolf I'd love to see a pic of that korina Eclipse! I've got one as well (only one I've seen). I asked Kim Keller about it quite a while back, and he said it was part of a run that Bill Kaman had instigated... He said he thought there were only 10 or 12 made. Mine got hacked by a previous owner who thought it would be better with a P90 in the neck. At least they did a clean route job, but it can never be original again. Â 12 Quote
Jakeboy Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) Post them here. We will buy a bunch if you post fair prices…after we are done, raise the prices a bit and sell on EBay or the verb. Edited June 6 by Jakeboy 7 1 Quote
mathman Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Yea, but he is trying to determine fair prices….fucking difficult I might add.  But that is the gotcha part of selling used guitars.  Like the three bears.  This one is way too high.  This one is way too low.  This one is just right.  And that perspective is different for buyer and seller..   4 Quote

It just needs another p90 in the bridge to be perfect…. 😬 7 1 Quote
tbonesullivan Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Oh wow that is an Impressive collection and I hope everything is ok if you're offloading the entire thing. In general you'll be able to get more if you spread out when you sell things, as you dilute the market, and also Hamers are a bit of a Niche market, so you end up using the budget of the people most likely to buy used hamers. Definitely would be interested in seeing pictures of some, particularly the NAMM Newport, as those tend to be very interesting. In what state is the collection located? 2 Quote

crunchee Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Does anybody know what the economic climate is gonna be like next year? Or in three years? Or five years? Just asking for a friend.     2 Quote

Go ahead and buy a new truck and guitar collection. ETA: This won't be funny without the context... Years ago during an employee mtg, the Q&A comes up. This was during a fairly bleak period of business, but with the announcement of some good prospects. A guy asks the plant mgr "So can I go buy a new truck?". The boss says "yeah, go buy yourself that new truck!". Four months later they announced layoffs. 😂 Edited June 8 by DaveH 1 1 Quote
Crywolf Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Hey everyone, sorry for the radio silence. I had to leave town due to a family emergency. I'll try and get back to all your questions/comments later this week. Â 4 Quote

If I could only own guitars made of one type of wood, that wood would definitely and unequivocally be Korina. 4 Quote

django49 Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Not every piece of either are exactly the same. One piece of mahogany, for example, can be much heavier than another. That said, (IMO!), korina/black limba tends to be a bit lighter in weight and have a "sweeter" tone. I like it as an all around choice. Of course, if you are a traditionalist and want that heavier weight and midrange of a Les Paul, korina may not be for you. 1 Quote
DaveH Posted June 11 Posted June 11 To me, exceptions @django49 excluded, korina tends to have a bit more in the upper mids. My most resonant guitars are korina. And, I like the way that it looks. 2 1 Quote

BoogieMKIIA Posted June 11 Posted June 11 I only briefly played a Korina Special in the store years ago. It was resonant, but wood varies. It is beautiful whether clear or black. The appearance is why I used Black Limba for my Boogie combo cabinet. Can’t say it is better or worse sound wise in a small combo cabinet. My woodworker buddy says it is easy to work with.    8 1 Quote
hamerican gigolo Posted June 18 Posted June 18 (edited) I had a Korina Artist P90 bought from burningyen, if I'm not mistaken. Could be wrong. That was a long time ago. It didn't speak to me, so off it went. Edited June 18 by hamerican gigolo Quote
