It's an aftermarket guard.

I know that one - formerly of the PF Collection!

Very cool guitar that I would love to own.

Silly price that I would not pay.

It looks like that 4-digits entered the 5-digit realm though.

Now appearing on reverb from Tone Wolf, along with a nice standard (presumably also from PF).

Avoid checking prices if you are faint of heart.

They forgot to mention the aftermarket pick guard. Guitar looks great, but that's steep. Peter has/ has had amazing guitars though!!! It feels like half of what is in THE BOOK was owned by him at some point.

I'm watching closely.  Mine might go on the "block", if they pull five figures.  Even 9K would float my boat.  Dots though...

That happened in the early 2020s.

Not that often considering @The Shark‘s post.

A 4 digit isn’t just a 4 digit so they can’t all be lumped into the same boat. If you just narrow it down to Standards, you have to break it down to 74 to 78, and 79 to what 86? Then break it down to who owned it, that will vary from Keith to Bubs. Does it have a story? Does it have history? It’s what every collector wants.

A good 4 digit should be 10K or above it it is free of breaks and has all the original parts. Especially the early ones that were make in really low numbers per year. Sky is going to be the limit eventually. I say if you have one, hold on to it.

Mine is #0221.  It's a fantastic instrument.  Re-fretted with all "period correct" parts and pickups.  Got it from Bubs.  Was, through a lineage not verifiable, Charlie Huhn's guitar (Ted Nugent, Gary Moore, Humble Pie, and Foghat fame).  Serendipitously, Charlie moved to Belchase Court in DeBary Florida right about the time I bought the guitar from Bubs.  I saw him gardening one evening when headed to band practice.  I asked him about the guitar.  He told me that he sold his to one of his best friends in Michigan and the guy still had the guitar.  Then, Bubs told me that Dave Kenney sold him the guitar.  Dave had a "story" for every piece of gear he ever owned.  Some embellished.

I don't know who owned the guitar.  I don't know if any or all the hardware and pickups is original.  I'm going to sell it.  $9,000 shipped to the lower 48.  I'm in no hurry.  Local pickup will get it for $8,750.  You could do Disney!

I'll get my own "For Sale" thread going in the next few days.  Here's some pics.

That guitar (#0221) is the reason I placed my first Custom Order for a Standard with Dave Kenney back in 1990.  I had them hold the guitar ($250 on a card) and sent the rest either by USPS money order or a check, I forget which.  When my payment arrived 2 days later, it had been sold, so Dave called me and we worked out a custom order for a non-catalog Standard.

He was selling that guitar with a set of PAFs or with DiMarzios put back into it for cheaper.  If I can dig up that ad, I'll send it to you, but he did state that he got it from Charlie or Charlie's tech directly back then.

Charlie used to walk down from his house and listen to us practice.  He would never come in.  He would sit in his golf cart and drink wine for however long he stayed.  Once said to me, "You guys play Yes"!  It was a big compliment.......I think.

Tuners, Bridge/Tailpiece, jack, Switch, pots, knobs all original. Pickups were out of a 78 Sunburst. Nut is not original it came to me with a Brass Nut, Murkat replaced the nut, did the refret and added the Poker Chip. If I had all the money, I would buy it back. Very nice Standard.

I want you to have it back, Shawn.  Let me know.  I can do credit cards through my business.  Or you can just take months to pay me.  Right of first refusal.  Hamer Forum "family".

Although mine is a Darkburst Standard it's 4 digits later than mine too!
