cmatthes Posted May 22 Posted May 22 If this isn’t a refin, it’s incredibly clean! https://reverb.com/item/97268839-hamer-usa-firebird-ii-2-guitar-with-case-1980s-white 5 Quote
kizanski Posted May 22 Posted May 22 No visible cracks along the Floyd nut holes. Unheard of. 4 Quote
cmatthes Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 I still think it’s a refin, but might trek over to see it in person. 1 Quote
ARM OF HAMER Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Wow! I'd own that..................if the finish is original, that would be incredibly cool! These don't show up often and as has been noted in the past they aren't making any more. Quote
The_Cali_Kid Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Very cool looking guitar. Never played one myself, but upon reading up on them in this forum and elsewhere over the years I’m led to believe their looks aren’t matched by their playability, unless you happen to be 6’4” or above with long arms. That being said, this one looks so nice I’m tempted to roll the dice. Quote

Atomic is my all-time favorite shop, and the gang there is the best, but I still think that’s a refin and a redone serial. 6 Quote
Saul Goodman Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Why are they offering it in a gig bag when it's photographed in a case? 2 Quote
veatch Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Might be a closet queen. The plastic cover is still on the control cover plate.... 1 Quote
Dave Scepter Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I noticed that as well, or perhaps it's just a new control cover from "Frets On The Net" That's where I got mine from for my Scarab, and I believe it still had the plastic on it Quote
Mike Brooks Posted May 23 Posted May 23 If it hasn’t sold in the next 15 minutes or so, I’ll be seeing it in person. I’ll let everyone know… 4 Quote
Mike Brooks Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I have it in hand. It plays like a dream. I can’t tell if it’s a refin or not. If it is, it’s a good one. Question though, the serial number is just printed on and a quick lookup says possibly 2014. Quote

I’m 95+% convinced that’s a refin with a redone serial, but it’s damned cool. 1 Quote
Mike Brooks Posted May 23 Posted May 23 They knocked off $500 and I traded a few things even up. That was a quick google search of the serial number….not accurate 6 Quote
murkat Posted Saturday at 10:29 PM Posted Saturday at 10:29 PM Knobs too close to strings, bridge. Pass hard. Quote

You should definitely black light the guitar to make sure no neck issues. Edited Monday at 09:49 PM by HamStd 5 1 Quote

I've paid too much for some of the best guitars on the planet (IMHO). I let their market value "catch up" to what I paid. Enjoy! 6 2 Quote
