tobereeno Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 1991 Virtuoso, pearl snakeskin finish, y'all have seen it a gazillion times, and well.... blew a piston on my Nissan Skyline GTR and while thinking about the rebuild, a cherry-fresh engine with all the right mods pops up, but for considerably more cash than I had set aside for my engine rebuild. So, painfully, I will entertain serious offers (PM me with what you've got in mind). Several of you have been in touch with me over the years and I've said interesting trades only....well now, if I can get a cash offer high enough to get that engine, I will let this baby go. or....wil trade straight out for a freshly rebuilt RB26DETT Skyline engine with all the motorhead stuff you'd want on one (metal gaskets, forged pistons, fuel rail/600cc+ injectors, etc)
LordOfTheThighs Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 or....wil trade straight out for a freshly rebuilt RB26DETT Skyline engine with all the motorhead stuff you'd want on one (metal gaskets, forged pistons, fuel rail/600cc+ injectors, etc) I can a hold of a Mopar Slant 6 with only 130,000 miles on it, if that would interest you. Great looking RARE Hamer. Sorry to hear you gotta let it go. This thread could get interesting.
Hamer Bass Head Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 don't be insane!!!if you sell it you'll regret it for the rest of your life!
kizanski Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I had to check the calendar....and it's not April 1st...DAMN Tobe!
Guest galejt Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I can a hold of a Mopar Slant 6 with only 130,000 miles on it, if thatwould interest you. Mopar Slant 6s are the shizznit! Plymouth Valiant babee.
cmatthes Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Yikes!!I played Hamerica's Red sustainblock Virt and found it nearly impossible to put down. Those are a lot more than just 'shred' guitars.
blackfbiv Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Don't do it Len!!!!You would regret it, I know!!!Dion
cmatthes Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I'm going to stop looking at that one now.Well, now, actually.NOW.and I mean it!
jettster Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I'd love to have that guitar but, I'm getting a transmission rebuilt and beefed up for my grocery getter. Depending on what all is broken ($1500-2500). I'm having it modified with a Viper output shaft so it will supposedly handle 650 ft/lbs of torque. I sheared the output shaft with a 6000rpm dump on 11.5 slicks. So, I feel your pain. It's not good to have two expensive hobbies such as hot rods and guitars. lolThat guitar is totally bad ass!!!
ZR Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 If you have to ask....; )Anyway, Toby is a great guy to deal with for those of you that don't already know.
Guest pirateflynn Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Just curious............I like learning about Hamer's.It's not my type but I think it's cool as hell.
ZR Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 No, I know what you mean...it will be interesting to see what something this unique can bring.
Hamerica Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Tobe! Say it isn't so! For those of you that never have had an opportunity to play a Virt or a Junior and have made some assumptions based on single pickups - they are incorrect muy amigos! If he does wind up selling this, somebody is going to be a very, very happy camper with that one. Of all the Hamers - this one is one from the catalog that I would love to own. Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn...Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn,Damn...That makes a strong man weep. I hope you get to keep her or at least give it to someone that will take care of it for the next generations. OK - now I gotta go wash my mouth out.Hamerica
geoff_hartwell Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Double Damn Hamerica, you holdin onto one of these with a sustain block?
Disturber Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 If I had the cash and the talent to play one of these things I'd be all over it. But it has a bunch of frets to many. If they could be removed then... ...it would be the same as a Snakeskin SSII, and I have one of those. Okay GAS taken care off, moving on... Congratulations to the lucky sod who picks this one up. Tobereeno, you will regret this later
sirDaniel Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 forever is a long time to hold a guitar. Imagine if some didn't get passed around. One door closes for someone opens another for someone else. I got one of Badgers "if the house burns down, this is what I'm grabbing" seafoam tele. I thought he'd NEVER sell.
serial Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 So true SirDan. There are several members here who are loving some of my former "house burning" guitars-mostly four digit Standards!I don't think anyone would really want Hamerica's Virt though. It isn't made of mahogany like the later ones. It's made from this wood that was lying around the Gibson factory since the 50s and was covered in pigeon poop. Korina or something like that.
tobereeno Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 I *know* I'm gonna cry a river over this one, but fact is, at least to an American, a Skyline GT-R is the automotive equivalent of a Virt, and it is absolutely killing me that my car is down for the count. Selling this guitar puts me within range of a relatively reliable 600-700hp engine tune. Oy. Well, can't have everything, must make choices....
Hamerica Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Double Damn Hamerica, you holdin onto one of these with a sustain block? Hi Geoff! There is a pic of one that is either mine or exactly like mine, with another guitar going to NAMM. Long story here but I purchased from the dealer that bought it at NAMM. Talk about NOS - you can read the post Serial made above. Yeah, speaking of staying with you unless there is a fire, my sons know the fire drill, forget the clothes boys, five guitars must be carried out at the sound of the smoke alarm. I kinda feel sorry for the person that only grabs four. That smoke is gonna be pretty thick by the second or third run. Oh, Guests only have to carry two. Hamerica
ZR Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 toby...your skyline...got pics?It says that the Infiniti g35 is basically an imported Skyline for N. America - true?I saw one at church that said skyline on the back but I think it was a G35 with redone badges.
