Tokyo Tapes Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 After many months of waiting, I finally got my hands on one of the best Hamers I ever had the pleasure of playing. Here she is: The happy former owner: The even happier present owner: /Ulf
Feynman Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I think the former owner looks happier.Very nice.
Guest pirateflynn Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Hey, I got to see that one Friday night when I met Kilroy. In fact, there were 2-4 Digits and a '77 Sunburst in that room!
Sentinel Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I think the former owner looks happier. Well perhaps he got a BIG pile of dollar bills for it!! No, but honestly... Congrats Ulf!! You told me about your purchase quite a long time ago, and I'm really happy that you finally got your hands on it. Your second four-digit...!! Is it safely at home in Sweden now?! Soon you'll have to tell us how it compares to your first 4D.
LordOfTheThighs Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 No SH!T !!!AwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesomeAwesome
BTMN Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 OOH I know that one's story a lil bit. What a nice guitar. 12 numbers before one of my Standards too IIRC. CONGRATS!!!!!
cmatthes Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 That one looks oddly familiar!Nice deal, guys. Kilroy is great to deal with.
belgian Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Beautiful, great score !Year & serial number ????
Disturber Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 That looks like it has seen a smoky bar or two, just as it should be! 4-digits are the shiznit. I'm picking up a new toy tonight. We gotta meet up and exchange war stories and compare guitars when you are back in town
Tokyo Tapes Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 The serial number is 0064, Which should be a -77 I think. Serial would know. The cool thing is that it got all the early features: small logo, oval backplate and rhythm/treble plastic ring. It also has some custom features: Gold hard ware, double cream pick ups and ebony board./Ulf
serial Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 That is a very nice one. I've had the pleasure of playing it and it was indeed a pleasure. Yep, it's a '77. The long oval backplate for the controls went up through close to #0100. I own #0096 and it has that plate, but #0105 that I owned had the triangular plate that they still use today. AWESOME score and a huge +1 on Kilroy. Extremely nice guy and great to deal with. Nice taste in guitars and tunes too-Kilroy's also always got some cool stories about rock guys too!Agreed that Four Digits are the shiznit. Whatever a shiznit is, they rule.
Disturber Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I dunno what it is either, but my 4 digit sounds like that trumpet player on steroids...
Tokyo Tapes Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Yes, Kilroy is the king. A truly pleasure to deal with and a incredibly nice guy. Neato-torpedo indeed. /Ulf
Travis Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Awesome guitar in every way. Congrats on a killer score.Out of curiosity, where were those pics taken?
Pieman Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Are you carrying that back to Sweden? Did you buy a ticket for the seat next to you?
Tokyo Tapes Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 I managed to carry it in the cabin all the way to Sweden (with one connect flight). I had some trouble at the check in counter, but after some persuasion it worked out ok...
Sentinel Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I had some trouble at the check in counter, but after some persuasion it worked out ok... What about Swedish Custom officers?! Did you sneak though or did you have to pay up?!
