bubs_42 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I've been hanging out here for a while now, racked up some post. As a 4 digit owner and a part of the Vintage Sunburst Crew. I love to see everyones Sunburst's and Standards. It's somthing that I enjoy very much. So I've been diggin Gary for some time and have been playing his DVD's on my computer nonstop. So when I found this I was thrilled. Here you go ! Link... http://rarestarguitars.com/gary_moore.php Pics..
ceeb Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 From te site:Steve Matthers, an expert on Hamer says “Hamer Standards in Natural with the matching flame headstock are rare (I’d guess no more than two or three were made)”.We should round up this Mathers fellow, and see if he'd be interested in our little club.
bubs_42 Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 I wish Cmathers would have order this one with Crowns... Not a 4 digit but it should be.
elduave Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 That unbound veneer headstock with stadium logo is COOL!
RacerX Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Pretty killer slab of Mahog on the backside. Bet that thing sounds great.
MCChris Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 LOL! "Steve Matthers"!As The Beaver!Spelling someone's name wrong is piss poor, man. These fools didn't go to journalism school where I did, I can tell you that. Spell a proper name wrong on any assignment and the highest grade you could get was a 1.0 (D), assuming the rest of it was perfect. Cures you of misspelling names REAL quick.
The Shark Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Speaking of spelling a chap's name wrong; the tech is Graham Lilley. Not Graham Tilly. I sold him a tweed twin for Gary a few years ago. We corresponded for a year or so. I'm sorry I missed out on "the purge". Wish I would have had the dough for this one: I got to play it at The Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando once upon a time!
prototype-fan Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 The headstock is indeed totally cool. Would Hamer custom make a maple capped headstopck nowadays?
guitarzandstuff Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 The headstock is indeed totally cool. Would Hamer custom make a maple capped headstopck nowadays?I have had a matching flamed maple unbound headstock Standard and currently have a bound matching flamed maple headstock Standard. So yes, I believe they will
cmatthes Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Yes indeed. Elduave ordered one on my '08 "Envyburst" standard. Ask, and ye shall receive!
Steve Haynie Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Aw, heck, Chris. Show us the whole guitar. The headstock alone looks great, but show us the rest.
cmatthes Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Found another pic from when it was for sale a LONG time ago: (And for Steve...)
bubs_42 Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 I just love Natural. You have to get a good piece of wood to do it, and it ages better than anything else.
bubs_42 Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 LOL... I had a bad day and that just brought me up a bit.
MTM105 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Gary has "that" tone. His tone is the tone I seek. I don't have the same equipment. But it sounds close enough. My problem is that I'll get to it. then I start tweaking. and tweaking. and tweaking. never good enough. always tweaking. never playing. just tweaking...............
bubs_42 Posted October 16, 2008 Author Posted October 16, 2008 Tell me about it... I've been listening to "Live at Mosters of Rock" and "Moore and Friends" (DVD) and his tone is great. He goes from balls out JCM Thunder to Grinding Blues tone. It's great.. I reallized yesterday that I'm not any better than I was 5 Years ago. Life has just gotten in the way. Good news is I've got some great Guitars!
