kizanski Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Well...truth be told, if he offered more than $30 it would be gone. $30.00 was the amount that STM was offered to resolve the issue. I felt it was fair.In hind sight, I am just a lurker here and if the hamer owners at HFC don't mind being associated with that picture, why should an epiphone owning piece of crap like me give a rats butt. You might be missing the point. Either that or you're making a joke and it sailed over my head. We don't want to be associated with that picture, and we still won't be. That's all him and he has to deal with it. Deleting the photo or his threads lets him off the hook for being the douchebag that he is, and any warning to future members that might deal with him would also be gone.

In context here, it's associated with one person, as it should be.Why should you care what I think of Epiphones?
Hbom Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 [Why should you care what I think of Epiphones?Actually it had more to do with blaming the guitar, no matter who made it, rather than the guy that screwed up the electronics.
veatch Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Here's the way I see it (and anyone that knows me knows that I'm not joking)...Toxic deal + Epiphone guitar + stinky guitar case = Guitar smashing/Jimi-esque guitar & case burning video.Preferably to the tune of ACE OF SPADES!!STM, I'll paypal you 25 bucks towards your purchase if you burn that guitar and post the video.OK, back to the point. I'm in for $25. But i think the proceeds should go towards buying STM another Epi to take the edge off of trashing a guitar he obviously wanted enough to trade for. There should also be raffle for an urn containing the embers of the to be destroyed guitar. Say $5 a ticket. I'd be in for another $25 for 5 tickets. All proceeds from the raffle to go to the Special Olympics. Yes, i'm serious.

If I missed something I'm sorry. But my point is that a guitar isn't a piece of crap just because it's made by Epiphone, anymore than every Hamer is wonderful just because it's made by Fender.I'm sorry if I offended you, for anything other than that.D

I stand by my contention, however, that to go to extraordinary lengths to acquire an Epiphone, including boxing up a perfectly good guitar and shipping it off to someone in exchange for one, seems silly. And STM said it himself: you can't put a pricetag on the time he's lost dealing with this horseshit, all for an Epiphone that came in a case that reeked of cigarette smoke and cat piss and DIDN'T EVEN WORK!Seriously. Re-read that bolded part.I make two assumptions about grown men: that they presumably have lives, and possibly have wives and/or kids. Is it really worth sacrificing a nanosecond you could have otherwise devoted to either of those things to acquire a used Epiphone? Priorities, people.
geoff_hartwell Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 This place is full of folks whose lives are better as a result of the presumption of good will here, myself included. I can't say much for raffles (or waffles...) but one of my students lives was changed by a spontaneous fund raising here, and there are a million other stories on the board. There's a lot of heart here and a lot of class. Maybe it's an opportunity to take some rain and make some rainbows. Geoff
burningyen Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I'm all for whatever solution doesn't involve destroying a guitar that someone might enjoy playing.
veatch Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 OK, it's agreed. 2nd drawing in the raffle to be a box of waffles. OK, i'll drop it now...

coolfeel Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Just start a thread for donations/Waffle tickets. There, fixed it...
Rebeka Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Waffles with Nutella? I'm in.Mmmm....good call. I don't think an Epiphone with Nutella would work nearly as well.
