triodecr Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I sold my SuperPro to sanctus-traum on ebay. I checked it before I shipped it and it no issues - all electronics worked fine. He claims the switch now pops and the tone knob doesn't work. FedEx had it in their possession for 24 hours. I find this very fishy. Has any one had any interaction with sanctus-traum on ebay? Is he a member here?

Could the tone cap solder joint have come loose in shipping or something freakish like that? ETA: at any rate, all easily confirmed (Skype, anyone?) and all easily fixed.

Now it mysteriously has electrical problems and he wants money to get it fixed.He did not note any physical damage. It would have to sustain one hell of a hit to damage the tone cap solder joints; it's a small cap and there's alot of solder attaching it to the back of the pot and I believe the lead to the pot lug is partially wrapped on the lug. Not impossible, but I would be dumb founded if that was the issue. I think it's really something with his rig but he says all is good there.

He submitted an offer lower than I could accept and we negotiated until we were both satisfied. He is going to send it back and I'll see what the deal is.

No sign of injury to the box, case or guitar. Just the switch. I know for a fact it wasn't shipped that way. The switch and knob had to be replaced. I suppose something similar could happen to a tone knob.(?)

A Nairobi prince will pay you $4M in 60 days if you give him $40k to help him……….I haven't done a deal thru eBay in years. I've gone to bricks n mortar or people I know here. The last ebay deal i tried to do was for a Mesa Mark IV that i was trying to buy. The deal started to raise red flags within minutes of the auction close. The deal was terminated after the seller threatened to have "people" come to my home. That's when I got law enforcement involved. I have not heard from the seller since. Making a threat via email is a felony. Most ISPs will cooperate with law enforcement in tracking down the W's (who, where, when…..). The seller closed his account on eBay…….and probably resurfaced under a new name to pull more slimy eBay deals again. I sold a Hamer Cruise bass on ebay a few years ago. About a week after it was delivered i get an email from the buyer. "My luthier..." (red flag, just be honest n say "the guitar tech at Sam Ash"). A long list of major issues from electronics to a twisted neck and cracked neck joint, you would think it arrived in firewood condition. My first response was "I'm sorry to hear that. Pack it up n send it back for a full refund." his tune changed substantially, from a $600 quote for repairs by his luthier was negotiated down to $40 for strings n a setup and positive feedback. Can you say extortion? No mo eBay fo duh caddie. I go to the few remaining small, privately owned guitar shops. Not many left but the ones that are still in biz are usually very good, that's why they are still in biz.
