CD stuck in the car changer experts?

Question

I bought a Honda (from my sister) and after two weeks of working just fine, it stopped ejecting the CD on demand. Dang. Is there any quick/EX fix like a cleaner or something?

I use ny car time for language instruction and listening to CDs I snag from the library.

I might have to go to some mp3 radio car adapter, but then I'd have to convert the language CDs to mp3, etc.

Thoughts?

Thank you, young man. My last car had a Bose premium 6-cd changer and it never gave me a problem. Now I need a popsicle stick to extract the CDs. The libarians don't like that.

They had a bad run of CD changers at one time. I had to replace two in my 2003 CRV but luckily both were done under warranty. I still have the car and the third CD player is still kicking. I use it literally every time I'm in the car because radio sucks and despite Stike's Grandpa comment, I've never owned an iPod and don't think I ever will unless someone gives me one.

Check to see if there is a small round hole on the front. If you insert a straightened end of a paper clip you may be able to trigger the manual release mechanism that is there for just such malfunctions.

I've used my smart-phone into a cassette adapter for years. Basically an iPod. With today's streaming Pandora and such, I'll just turn it on and drive. I've had the same CDs in my changer for about a year now. Some good stuff, but I rarely use it.

We just bought a used Audi with a 6 CD changer in the dash, but again, it has a cassette player (probably the last year/model you could get one), and happy to use the smart-phone into cassette adapter approach with this one too.

It's a great way to get a hands-free phone at little cost.

My car ate a CD in the changer about 6 years ago. Haven't used it since, mostly due to not wanting to get raped by Nissan for a replacement.

Junkyard, not the band, the actual place. Ford wanted over $800 for the 6 CD changer in my truck, paid $85 for a used one and its still going since 2004. They are not hard to replace, 4 screws and a plug.

Thanks to all

I found a youtube video on removal / replacement A six CD unit on ebay goes for $90-120 I think I'll give that a try.

I will probably have this vehicle for 5-6 years and I am not going through the hassle of converting my language CDs and foreign music CDs to mp3s.

Plus I grab at least 8-10 CDs from the library each month and that is a super easy way to check out new music. Some of it I never play more than once.

I had a problem with ours where it was throwing an error code for a moisture sensor problem. What worked was ejecting it once the car was really hot (parked in the sun for hours on a 90+ degree day).

In my case I've been using it again, but I oh trust it with one CD at a time and I try to let the CDs acclimate to the car for a few minutes to avoid any possible condensation.

Haven't had a player eat a cd, but i make a copy to play in the pickup just in case.

Youtube ROCKS for this kind of stuff... broke my Honda key (the one with the buttons) dealer wanted $200,

found the shell for 4 bucks and had a locksmith cut it for $50. works great.

I would also look for the little pinhole on the front that most of them have. THEN - I would go over to Crutchfield and replace it. For $175ish I swapped out the stereo on my '95 Camry wagon AND the two front door speakers and it was close tot he best 175 I ever spent. the sound was better, the volume was better :) and everything I wanted was in the head. Took me about 45 minutes to swap it all in myself with the kit they provided, it really was ridiculously simple to do.

Yeah....look for the tiny hole to manually eject it with a paperclip.

Best Buy sells really inexpensive replacement decks and will install, also pretty cheap.

I recently got a name brand AM/FM/CD/MP3/Satellite car deck for under $100.

The irony was that I bought it to finally upgrade my Jeep that I've had for 10 years...but then just sold the Jeep last week.
