hikarateboy Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Josh sent me a couple photos of the proto's. Enola (bridge) will come with a lightly soldered on cover. I have heard them and the are absolutely awesome. Anyone that was thinking about installing boutique pickups from another manufacturer won't be disappointed if they stay with the stock set up. I firmly believe that Josh's work is on par with anything out there. They are amazing. I have also heard the Charlotte as well. It's exactly what it was supposed to be. Gain with clarity. Think Van Halen 2. That in the bridge is the only substitution anyone might want to make if they prefer a pickup with slightly more gain. Lastly Josh really thinks the HFC is a unique and special place so will be making the Shlabotnik models (Grace, Enola and Charlotte) available for purchase only by HFC supporting members. While anyone can contact josh and spec out a custom pickup of there own, perhaps extremely similar to the Shlabotniks, it a nice convenience and very cool of him to do.
hikarateboy Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Sound samples to come. Josh has been a bit busy as you can expect.
bubs_42 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I know I intend on leaving those Bad Girls in mine. Can't Wait!
polara Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I'm not a big pickup swapper myself so I'm sure I'll be more 'n' satisfied. When I have swapped, I reach for Dimarzio 36th: loves me some mid-high clarity and not too much low end. I'm psyched!
BTMN Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 OH YEAH!!!! Can I have a pair of Enolas in mine?
hikarateboy Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 The "standard" setup will be an Enola in the bridge and a Grace in the neck position. They were designed by Josh to work together as a unit. As mentioned a Charlotte could be swapped for an Enola if you want slightly more gain without compromising the way the pickups work together.
BTMN Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Actually I just wanted two Double Cream pickups really.
hanspanzer Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I actually need new pickups on the `78 Sunburst I purcased 10 minutes ago. Can`t been seeing around with blade-buckers
Sugartune Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Enola + Grace sounds like a perfect pair to me.
tomteriffic Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Their nephew Joe makes the finest P-90 types on the planet. I've got his Engine #42's in all of my P-90 guitars.
mrjamiam Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I'm one of the suspects in the area of possible pickup substituters. I'm pretty much off that now, but I would like a listen to the Shlabotnik sisters when the opportunity arises.
zorrow Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Great news! I'm always looking for a way to spend my hard-earned money in guitar-related stuff, so this is just. f@cking. perfect!
atquinn Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 My Studio Custom sounds perfect as-is, but I'll probably save up for a Grace-Enola set to try out in it.-Austin
cmatthes Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 It's well worth becoming a supporting member of the HFC just to get a crack at those!
RichRS6 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I was going to put a set of Gregwinds in I have but I think that plan has now changed.
sonic1974 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Any estimate on price for these pups? Thanks.
hanspanzer Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 How do I get i touch with Josh? I think these would fit my `78 Hamer Sunburst.
