hanspanzer Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Yup, I`m a sucker for these. The one on the left arrived today.
gorch Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 That's a very nice collection. P90 galore except for one humbucker.
zorrow Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Good stuff. Not surprised you're a fan-o those.
Sugartune Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Those are cool! Really dig the Antigua beauty.
Biz Prof Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Good stuff. Not surprised you're a fan-o those. I see what you did there...
Disturber Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I liked their designs for a long time. Very cool instruments. The big turn off is that they seem to insist to beat every one up before shipping them out. I'd never pay for that, they ain't cheap either. I want a new, mint, one, or they can f*ck off. Don't touch the finish on my guitars fools.

Don't touch the finish on my guitars fools. Exactly. I don't doubt they are great playing guitars, but I ponder why they aren't available as if new. My jaded conclusion (so far) is that it is much easier to build anything when you don't have to concern yourself with the aesthetics of the final product. Consider how simple production of anything would be if one didn't have to concern themselves with bothersome non-productive activities such as housekeeping.
Bloozguy Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 The big turn off is that they seem to insist to beat every one up before shipping them out. They have 4 different "distress levels" and one of them is called "clean." The only Fano I have ever played was a non-distressed model and it looked great. Can't seem to figure out why so many people lean towards the really beat up versions. From their website:Fano Distress LevelsClean - FlawlessExtra Light - Body: lacquer checking, no intentional distressing, clean plastic and hardware. Neck: lacquer checking, no intentional distressing.Light - Body: lacquer checking, minimal dings and scratches, lightly aged hardware, clean plastic. Neck: lacquer checking, minimal distressing.Medium - Body: lacquer checking, numerous dings and scratches, wear spots on edges, forearm and buckle rash, aged hardware and plastic. Neck: lacquer checking, dings and scratches on peghead and heel, lacquer removed from back to simulate play wear.

All I've seen are new, knocked up, ones. And I've been thinking, "nice legs, shame about the face".
Bloozguy Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 And I've been thinking, "nice legs, shame about the face".A great old Monks tune from 1979...
rj2858 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Didn't know that!? All I've seen are new, knocked up, ones. And I've been thinking, "nice legs, shame about the face".Or what we used to refer to as "butter face"As in, "she's got a killer body...BUT HER FACE!!!!"
JES1680 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I've been thinking about an SP6 lately love the looks of these.
gorch Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Actually, I thought Hanspanzer had bought used guitars. I'm surprised they appear to be new.
Biz Prof Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I am a fan o' guitars in general, although I'm not sure if I'm a huge fan o' Fano guitars.
crunchee Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 They kinda remind me of those Kalamazoo 'budget' guitars that Gibson made in the 1960's. I'm not talking about the Melody Makers or Juniors/Specials, either...I'm referring to the Kalamazoo branded electrics, the ones with quasi-Fender features and particle board bodies, IIRC.
hanspanzer Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 The aged vs New discussion is on every f**ing guitar forum in the universe and is in my humble opinion as interresting as a pair of socks. I don't give a sh*t as long as it plays and sounds well.
polara Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I want to try one. They look great and look comfortable, plus I'm a whore for P90s. My distressed Giffin Vikta has a similar vibe.
Willie G. Moseley Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Have always liked the idea of a Jazzmaster body with a hardtail bridge and various pickups from which to choose.Have always detested the idea buying a new guitar that has already been beat up. Didn't mean to be rude, but when touring one factory a number of years ago, they wanted to show me the place in the facilty where they relic'ed guitars, and I didn't want to know about it.
Disturber Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Have always detested the idea buying a new guitar that has already been beat up. This^^Didn't mean to be rude either. I like their designs and I always thought: "that is a guitar I'd like to try", when I saw one. Then, as they are all dented I thought they'd never be for me. I don't drink the "reliced" cool aid.But as Bloozguy taught me in this thread, apparently they can be had "as new" too. Now, that is super cool.
