Apple users?

My wife has a Ipad, I use it when we are on trips and for the kids to watch videos on. I think it's great for that, but a it is a wimpy substitute for a computer in my opinion. so I see It there, and I remembered Conan was on the daily show last night, I'm making breakfast for the girls and I decided I wanted to watch the Daily Show. Well, I open it up and it asks me to sign in to Icloud, I don't have icloud so I cancel it, seconds later it asks me to sign in to photo sharing, I don't have that either so I dismiss that one. I go to comedy central, and it aske me again to sign in to icloud, and then after I start the daily show, "please sign in to photo sharing". TWELVE TIMES in a 10 minute video clip. it stops the video and asks me to log in. I went to the settings and turned off all notifications, but I can't make it stop. took forever to make breakfast too ;)

How do I make it stop?

Sounds like you need to log out of iCloud completely. Go to Settings, then scroll down to iCloud, then you should see a Log Out option. Hope this helps.

What's the app you are using?

Well, you could check any of the Safari settings though. However, I wouldn't expect Safari being nasty on videos. It could be a problem with the website or the video player within the site.

it has been doing it reguardless of what app was running. i think i got it, i had to create a login to get access to the app and then delete it.

thanks for the ideas!

Get a Samsung... no issues and I have complete control. I hate my wife's iPad, so does she. it's like using someone else's stuff and they have all the control.

Until you're the victim of someone gaining remote access of your camera, microphone, and/or starts intercepting your texts.

But yeah, until then you have complete control :) Do you anti-Apple people grow as tired of always complaining about Apple as we do of hearing it?

For the record, we've had three iPad's to date (v.1, 3, and mini) and I can't say I've ever had messages as described in the OP popping up incessantly so I have no clue what might have caused it. Sorry.

What app? I thought you were using Safari?

You may have to take it back to factory or to an Apple store. I had this same issue awhile back. I cancelled an old account when I got a new iMac, but forgot to switch my iPod and iPad over to the new one before deleting. I couldn't switch because there was nothing to sign out of. Total pain in the ass.

isn't safari an app?

so far it hasn't done it again(thank heavens) so I think I got it!

I am definitely a bigger fan of Samsung stuff, but I am no i-basher. this ipad is 5yrs old and has been roughed up by my 2 girls and keeps ticking away! software "updates" have thrown me for loops pretty regularly, and forcing software on devices that were not designed with that software in mind is frustrating, but most of my electronics boarder on obsolescence. I don't blame anyone but myself for that part ;)

My brother and I were discussing this recently. He's in the Apple camp, and a lot of his co-workers are Android fan boys. It really REALLY bothers him that they are constantly ragging on Apple.

I couldn't really come up with a good explanation for it, except this: Apple is no longer the upstart, the cool thing compared to your parent's old boring thing. Much as the Apple crowd mocked Windows so mercilessly for not being cool (and hey, Windoze had plenty of bugs and issues to make fun of) Apple is now everywhere. Specifically in the mobile market: everyone has one, it IS the mainstream. My brother HATES mainstream anything (and I do mean ANYTHING) except his iPhone. He still mocks anything else that mainstream America embraces, but he can't take it when the one mainstream thing he embraces is attacked by the alternative crowd.

Anyway, consider the Android fanboys being the alternative raging against the Apple machine ;) Me, I don't really care except I hate typing on the iPhone keyboards. I would consider moving back to one if I could get around that!

I think it's funny how one sided it is... if you ask a question about your Windows computer, you get a dozen "buy a Mac" responses, but if you say anything even slightly negative (though accurate) about an Apple product, they stamp their little feet and hold their breath.

I've had nothing but Macs since 1991. My first Mac was an "LC". My wife had an Apple IIe before that and later got a Powerbook 100. I do all of my work on Macs and they have always served me well. That being said, while I love my iPhone, I am not a fan of my wife's iPad.

I use a MBP for work (with a Win7VM for the bulk of my development work). I force myself to use OSX so I am familiar with it. I really like iOS on an iPad, but I can't stand how iPhones work. Everybody's different :) Whenever friends ask me what they should get, I tell them to go play with a bunch and see which feels right.

I switched to Mac lately. For the price, the iMac and Macbook Air I picked up were finally close enough to a Windows PC for me to pick them up. I've worked on both OSs a lot prior. I really dig both of them a lot. Like I dig a particularly useful screwdriver a lot. And if I find a particularly useful screwdriver that says "Windows," that I prefer, I'll no doubt head back when next I need to upgrade.

TA - I was marveling just the other day at the ubiquity of the Macbook and how much times have changed. And while every generation does it to some extent, Millennials and many younger Gen Xers seem especially possessive of their individuality to the point of doing some strange things like arguing why Apple is still the anti-company despite Apple being the biggest corporation in the world. I mean, when you are valued at 33% more than Exxonmobil, you aren't really counterculture.

ETA - I was wrong, it's worth twice as much now.

Do you rotate your keyboard to the horizontal before typing? It helps. See tip #2:

Even if I wanted to(and I don't, I prefer to type vertically) it doesn't address the keyboard. I really REALLY prefer the Android keyboard where I can easily capitalize, where the letters change based on capitals or not, where all I have to do is hold a key down and it will become a number or other symbol. I answer a lot of work emails from my phone while traveling, and the droid keyboard works much better for me.

I had a 3GS when they were brand new, and tried a 4S(?) just as the 5s were coming out. Hated the 4 so much I took it back after a week and got a new Droid. I've been considering an iPhone again for my next replacement, but they keyboard (and some other stuff) drive me bat shit crazy.

I've been loving the kindle for surfing the net, watching movies on the ride from work, listening to music and reading books. Can't beat it for the price and it was easy to transition from Apple products. I still use the power book for guitar related activities and heavy email/typing (the kids call it keyboardist now) but this thing is a viable alternative for the aforementioned.

My guess is that she signed up for iCloud when she first set up the iPad. You can restore it to factory in iTunes. Or on a desktop/laptop got to iCloud.com and see if she can log in there with her email and a password she may use. If you can log in there, you've got iCloud. hope that's helpful.

That's what I tried to find, I have done all the updates and maintenance on it, so it's my email and computer it is synced with. I think I got it done, I had to create a login and log in to delete the icloud crap. now it works with no interruptions.

thanks for the input!

Aside from my first computer being a Commodore-Amiga, I've always been an Apple guy. I don't even know how to use an IBM compatible of any sort. That being said, and while I'm sort of committed to the Apple platform, I've come to hate the company's business model and behavior. They monopolize the app-market for their iOS devices and do all they can to undermine anyone who wants to get apps that are not sold and/or approved by them, they try to force users into the technology they want to promote, and their releases are riddled with bugs. They also have a habit of taking away features that people actually like, and after enough complaints for any length of time, they bring those features back as if they did something great. It makes me wonder if anyone in their company bothers to vet their products at all. About the only thing that I still really like about Apple is that they're less likely to get viruses (perhaps because of their totalitarian control). Yeah, I'm not leaving Apple, but it's only because there are no underdog computer developers that offer a better alternative. Apple has become the bloated company that Steve Jobs hated when he got into the game.

Some of the iPhone keys will bring up other choices when you hold them down. Like in mail, if typing an address, the period if held down will offer .com, .net, .org, .edu and .us

In the body of the message, the period will also offer the ...

A year or two ago Apple opened the door to 3rd party keyboards (swipe, swiftkey) with iOS 8 so maybe an iPhone is a contender again.

I always thought Apple's were a joke. I've used windows at work since they first came out. I finally switched to apple computers at home in 2000. Second best move I ever made, Best move was buying apple stock shortly after that. Apples rule.
