VERY cool.  I'm not aware of a 67 style Hamer V.  I'll have to look this up...

Yes, please. :)

This is an interesting one on many fronts-I can share a couple of pieces on this:

1. Quick glance of the hamer logs shows a gap for 0729-but if you look closely 0728 is out of sequential order (definitely not the only example seen in the logs) and 0732 is a V bass.  You wonder if it started life as a 4 digit, but either never finished or went back for a refresh in '84?

2.  Cool logo as I have seen it used on two other Hamers with the B/W graphic finish-including the orig finish on the Big Neddi V.

Does need alittle more investigative work.

Wouldn't the 07xx serials already be '84?

Also note that a 67 Gibson has a real pickguard as opposed to this Vectors painted one~

Yep. It actually took me several seconds realizing its "pickguard" was painted. That might also explain why it has those "taller-than-normal" pickup rings.

I dunno, pretty strange to me... interesting but strange... I've Googled pics of Gibson 67 Vees and do not see the high Tenon that Murkat was talking about... I also have a 67 RI and 91/92 Rudolf Schenker signature model both with pickguards that do not have the high Tenon... I have seen High tenons on the early specials or double cutaway but never on a V... perhaps a one-off?.. Stranger things have happened I guess... just my two cents~

It's more of a 70's thing- I have a '74 Gibson that's built in this way.   Still, pretty unusual for a Hamer...

Good luck on bidding!

Just watched the video. I'm convinced this guy will trade for raw steak -- just get some meat together and go trolling his neighbourhood... if he bites you got him.

I think this guitar will sell for more than it might have, if this thread hadn't popped up.  I'm out, so don't misunderstand.

Wow~ so far, its up to $1,730 & climbing   personally I think it's $730 too much... but then again, what do I know?

Someone's paying way too much for that guitar......unless it really appeals to them.  I never criticize those that pony up.  It's only money.

Whenever I see two buyers with 1000+ purchases bidding that much over the money on a guitar I can't help but wonder if they aren't just shilling the item.

But I was out when Z said dibs, so I guess what I think it's worth really doesn't matter.

I think its worth it.  How many others like this are there?

The spec is desirable.

It looks original- Hamer refin or not.

Great colours and lovely mojo.

Personally I think a lot of people here underate the value of some Hamer customs.

I totally agree it's just "for me" that is also the problem as I try not to purchase anything I can't get out from under... I look at it as in a couple years am I going to get $2000+ for it?.. Maybe I dunno~

It's most definitely a cool unique guitar

Oh & BTW, I would have easily paid double that for your red Vector~  :P

I do not think it's shill. 3-4 years ago I'd go $2K on it easily, even 2.5, and I guess that's where it's headed now. I've never seen one like it, it's unique, it's in pretty good shape and I am not sure if the second one like this even exist and I know guys who'd pay even more. Guys offer 4 digit Standards between $3K-$6K and higher and you can find one one any day at that price. This one - i'll be much surprised to see around any time soon. So from collector's point of view - well worth it.

Speaking of too much bidding....I know there is software that will bid for you etc., but if you're available to bid and watch something, why would you bid before it's under 5 minutes left?  That only drives up your price.

I pretty much bid on stuff with a few minutes left and if someone has a bot bidding, great for them.  But bidding on Tuesday for something that ends on Sunday doesn't do me any good.

For the most part I agree with you however, sometimes there's an intimidation factor involved... where someone will shoot his whole load and hope potential bidders get scared off as they pick at it noticing that the same high bidder is still standing strong~ Or a friend will bid high just so the seller can see the final potential...
