Carl.B Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Who did the pickup routing from mini to full size humbucker ?

hamerican gigolo Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 The seller states that it is a " vintage " Eclipse. Conveniently leaving out the fact that it has been routed for HBs.

polara Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 Looks like a good solid player: solid deal there. So what if it was routed for bigger pickups... it's not like an Eclipse is gonna be a collector's Grail in our lifetimes.
Biz Prof Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 I considered driving up to "MEE-bayne" (that's a joke; it's pronounced "MEH-buhn") this weekend with my son to see if he wanted it, but he's decided to keep saving money for now. I totally understand why players who like Firebird minis don't like the humbucker conversion, but I'm one of those guys who has simply never like Firebird pickups in any configuration other than in a 12-string for jangle rock. At the moment, I'm really hankering something very different: a low wattage 6v6-based Marshall-style amp, but $700 seems to be a nice price for that particular Eclipse and makes it tempting.
Stike Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 He mentions Mark Kane did the fret work. I've known Mark for years and he does indeed do great work, I'm sure it plays great. I live less than 10 minutes away from the seller but my GAS has mostly subsided so no NGD for me.

Oooh, ooh! Splawn Competiton/Super Sport 20w! The shiznit.

Biz Prof Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 A good friend of my son--another one of my mentoring victims--snagged this yesterday for $550. It is his first electric, and he loves it. He reports that it's very light and has a neck similar to my '93 Archtop Studio. I'll loan him an amp until he buys his own, so I'll likely get a good look at this one tomorrow. Imagine getting a USA Hamer as your first-ever electric. Nice.
