Hey! Quiet down. Some of us are glad to see big numbers on old guitars.

It’s a SUNBURST, not a Standard.

jeez.

For comparison, early Ibanez Jems and Universes are selling between $5k and $8k depending on the model (showcasing the benefits of guitar hero endorsements). Also, 4-digit standards are in the higher end of that bracket (year is also a factor). The price of the korina vectors is up probably due to the combination of Gibson's high list prices as well as the relative rarity of the Hamer vectors. Some people are catching on to the quality of Hamers, and prices are creeping upwards.

tl:dr - should be worth that, but not at this time. Magic 8-ball sez "ask me later"

I have a gut feeling that Sunburst will remain in "Mark's Private Collection"; at least at that price, it will.

I think we're going to see more and more of this.  If it's a Hamer from that period, people are just going to price it as if were a Standard, regardless of model.

"A Hamer from 1979?  $7,000."

Don’t forget that every single one was either “owned by” or “built for” Rick Nielsen, Steve Stevens or Def Leppard (when they were cool).

Exactly. And the further we get from the time period, the fewer people (us) there will be who were around at the time and know the truth.
Eventually, that nonsense folklore will become "the truth."

Luckily someone wrote a book about it.

Counterbalance, as we get further from that time period no one will know or care who Rick Neilson, Steve Stevens or Def Leppard were.  Hell, I barely do now.  🥱

Way ahead of you, believe me.

If somebody is willing to pay $6,695, then I guess it's worth $6,695.
