If it's 10, I have a back door. Let me see if I can find the PDF and I'll message it to you. Just a minnit. ETA: Sorry, I had to get in my cloud drive and look in the backup of an old computer. I didn't realize how old it was - the instructions are for how to get into a back door on Windows XP(!). I know there is a back door into 8 and 10 because I've done it (more than once). Let me have a look around. It had something to do with entering a boot menu at startup (pressing F8, maybe, multiple times?) and then walking through a Restore menu. I'll keep looking.

^^ OS is key! Do you need anything that's on it now? If not, your options are greater.

Morning weigh-in (Guitars, not bry4321)
velorush replied to bry4321's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Farmer carries fix a number of ills, but 10-pound-plus guitars are still the worst! Among the heaviest I can remember were my first Strat, an S9 (79-ish), northern ash that weighed more than 10 pounds and a Peavey T-40 I borrowed to do a bass gig around 1986 - don't know, maybe 13 pounds? The '19 COVID purchase Les Paul is 9.4 lbs. and is the heaviest guitar I own now (heavier than my exactly 9 lbs. P-Bass), but a really great padded Levy's Leather strap makes it seem lighter than it is. The Kiz' Senior was pretty heavy for a Special at 8.6 lbs. The sound made it worth it though. -
Nostalgia or what? Rediscovering the MiniDisc

Nostalgia or what? Rediscovering the MiniDisc
velorush replied to Montelovesco's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I have (in my desk drawer) a pristine Sony Discman with 12v cigarette lighter power adapter and cassette deck adapter. It still works great but, though I no longer own any CDs, I cannot bring myself to get rid of it. ETA: never had a mini disc. IIRC it was way out of my price range at the time they were in popular use. -
A great resource is the Psionic Audio YouTube account. https://youtube.com/@psionicaudio?si=lrUmHc6eXVdtAPzZ Great videos of all kinds of amps including loads of all stripes of Marshalls.

Ah, that's what I get for scanning the thread and URL target in the middle of first-day-of-the-month reconciliations! 😁 My original surprise stands though. I see the lower-priced bass as the far more desirable.

Dusty's four-digit Cruisebass is back! Sold prior for $4,550 whereas John McVie's similar but production Cruisebass sold for $25,600. What? Dusty's McVie's ETA: Dusty's Cruisebass was the one thing I've ever seen that drove me to actually sign up for Juliens. I got all signed up and ready to bid, then read the fine print about Buyer's Premium and Shipping Charges and never gave it another thought. Would love to have that bass, not so much because of the provenance (did Dusty ever really play it? Doesn't look like it), but because it's a four-digit Cruisebass!

Couldn't find that, but I did find a black one for $100. 80’s Schaller Electric Bass Guitar Roller Bridge Black Germany 3D-4 | eBay

I bought this. Pretty spendy at the time, but in retrospect, only 0.015% of the Console asking price. Bargain! This was interesting (if you're into this sort of thing): Behind Abbey Road Studios’ EMI TG12345 Console ETP (Edited to Posit): What would really happen if one clicked "Buy It Now?" 😅 Given the stated terms, it would likely send some folks scrambling.

I know there are some Budda Superdrive experts here
velorush replied to BadgerDave's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Your question piqued my curiosity and since I'm waiting on Contractor invoices this morning... This is the Budda-in-triangle logo (on the amp in question): ...which I read is a pre-Peavey mark. From a TGP post (about a different amp): And, because we need to confirm with two sources (or at least that used to be the standard of journalistic integrity), from the Budda forum: Does it matter? Found this review: Peavey made Buddas - Full Review/Comparison | The Gear Page Hope this helps (I found it interesting). -
No Serial-Nr. Checkerboard Special: were there any prototypes?
velorush replied to Vintage Hamer-Lover's question in Ask the HFC Experts
I took these to be the original string ferrule holes in the bottom of the Kahler route. If the Kahler installation included the behind-the-nut lock, could material have been removed around the original nut-side TRC hole? Looks like a void there. -
I got great service from Terrapin Guitars on a couple of custom three-TV-Jones-in-a-Strat pickguards. They provide a PDF template to ensure proper fit before ordering. Very configurable (several drop-down options) and prices were reasonable, too. The five-ply Les Paul guard is listed at $44 (I have no idea if that is competitive). As are others: I have a Reverb search set up for a Hamer Bass Bridge. Hamer Bass Bridge | Reverb Hopefully one will pop up, but nothing so far. Right now @alpep has a chrome Velocity bridge, but that's not what you're looking for. You're looking for this guy: 1982 (first year, as above) didn't say "Hamer" as it did in subsequent years. They were made by Schaller, so, unless you just have to have "Hamer" stamped at the bottom, you could have a look at this guy: Schaller High Mass 4 String Bass BRIDGE with Rollers Black BB-0318-003 | Reverb and this guy: Schaller 4 String Bass Guitar Bridge 3D-4 Nickel | Reverb So long as the screws line up, you could go with either of the above until a more authentic example pops up. CAVEAT: All that could be wrong, but the great thing about the HFC is someone more knowledgeable than me will be along shortly to correct any errors I might have in this post.

WTB Newport Pro with a Maple Top

Would love to see pics of that when you get a chance! -
My '97 American Deluxe P has the through-body / topload bridge. I've always put them through the body. A few years ago I switched to La Bella flats. La Bella makes a set just for through-body as (I've read) bad things can happen with a conventional set of flats when bent that way. Love the sound and feel of the flatwounds. The only mods from this stock picture are a tort guard and Hipshot tuners. Nine pounds on the dot (9.5 with stock tuners).

8 guitars for sale!

This is a good bit high on the geek-o-meter, but here goes. To get the Strikethrough font, Edit your post, move to the left of the characters you want to strike through, click the "Source" button (top left), and the screen will change to the html coding of your post. Type <strike>, then move to the end of the phrase you want to strike through and type </strike>. Click the Source Button again and you should see your phrase stricken (struck?). Like this. From the Source of this post: Ah, the days when the interweb was just a kid... ETA: and the Geddy bass is still killin' me! -
And I for one appreciate and am greatly entertained by your choice to dance upon that precipice! 🤣

When I was actually in a gigging situation, I found I never had GAS or bought anything because I actually had music to focus on. Never really thought about it at the time, but realized it some months after we had stopped - suddenly the GAS was back (and all for naught - "museum building" effort?). 🤔
