elduave Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Happy to have another one of my favorite brands at the Rock. Schecter seems like it will be a good fit with the kids, and more importantly, the stuff is made right. Some pics of the first batch, more coming...
kurtsstuff Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Yep....The metal kids will be doing cartwheels!! good guitars for the dough!!
Guest pirateflynn Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Way to go Dave! Another step to the top.
Mindseyes Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Schecter guitars are built like tanks......in my last band all of us did some mean shit to our Schecter's and they kept on rocking! They make some killer basses also!!!
Submariner85 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Schecters are great for the money. I have 5 right now but might be selling a few to fund something else soon.
Zoner Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 USA Schecters so rule! I'm a bit disappointed that they have embraced the XXX, horror movies and military themes, but I guess I'm getting old and cranky and don't know what these dang kids are thinking these days anyway. I once ran an auction for a guitar and made an unkind remark about the imported Schecter line (in comparison to the USA stuff) and got an angry Email from the president or whatever of Schecter (Michael Ciravolo or something like that) defending his product and telling me some stuff about the guitar I was selling (and that he was reporting it to the local authorities - but that's a s far as I wanna go with that one). Too bad its so hard to find a USA model to try out. They might actually sell some of them if players could see what they offer. Do any of you dealers know if they will be importing the Japanese made versions like the ones popping up on that auction site? Z
black magic Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Good for you Dave!! Do they have anything short scale with a pointy headstock? Jack.
MCChris Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Wish these Schechters were around when I was starting out. Wouldn't have had to suffer thru using a Hondo II.
cloakerz Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 my usa schecter pt custom is incredible. Best $650 I ever spent. It has become my main axe for gigging.
tomteriffic Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Good line, Dave. That 006 in the back there is a stupid great guitar for the bucks and has some serious chug going on. It's been said already, but I wish the USA Schecters were a little more available.
Zoner Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 my usa schecter pt custom is incredible. Best $650 I ever spent. It has become my main axe for gigging.Ditto. I don't know if mine is a "Custom", but it is my fave and has been for several years. Fat birdseye maple neck, bound Tele body, and 2 tapped hummers that really crunch when called on to do so. I got it one day when I walked into my local pawn shop and saw a black tele-looking thing on the wall. Pulled it down, checked it out, and decided it was a really, really nice axe. The best part was watching the counter person look it up on Evilbay for pricing. He saw a bunch of Diamond Series guitars and turned to me and said "how does $225 sound?" I was REALLY stoked when he brought out the case that came with it - a tweed Charvel number that I later sold for close to $200!!(it was literally like new). Great deal on a great guitar. I got another Tele this spring with tapped single coils and the serial #'s are 6 digits apart. Also a stellar axe. I also owned an 80's PT(Saturn) many years ago, but I think the newer one is a better guitar. I got a Strat-style USA model last week from a Guitar Center and wouldn't you know it - it's a great guitar! I wish they still did the Fender copies as they are every bit as good as any Anderson or Fender I have owned. Z
Guest JackButler Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Wish these Schechters were around when I was starting out. Wouldn't have had to suffer thru using a Hondo II. That Hondo II helped instill character in YOU!.. made a man outta you!.. and besides it helped you appreciate what a great guitar was.
serial Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 A Hondo II martyr here too, but I'm still waiting for the 57 virgins that I'm supposed to get from suffering through that POS!
unfun 75 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I really dig their S1 model. The BlackJack S1 model, especially. I'd love to find a USA-made one on the used market. The two USA-made PT's I've owned were stellar. The one I sold to "cloakerz" was used to fund a Hamer bass, so I guess it was worth it
elduave Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 I had a Cherry Sunburst PT (or Saturn? s/n 1812 IIRC) that I should have never sold. Only one I've seen before or since. Also had a more recent Tele Deluxe style. They make an 8-string bass that I'm eyeballin'...Omen 8
luiss Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I like Schecters too. Those Hollywood USA series are really pretty.Japanese series made by ESP seem really good.
serial Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I had a couple of PTs a few years back. Sold them both and wishing I'd held on to one of them, but I was playing bass at the time. Now I play mostly Teles with humbuckers-go figure.
silentman Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I've really liked all the schecters I've tried. The BlackJack stuff is pretty nice.
kizanski Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I had a Schecter PT addiction for a while. Plus, I was buying every Schecter neck and Strat body that I could get my hands on.What made it worse was I had Fung feeding me lines on stuff that was available here and there - I had only been checking ebaY, lol!At one point, I think I had 5 black PT's and a few Schecter "parts guitars" with assorted pickup combos. Built like a tank and even harder to hurt.Once I sold all of that stuff off, I kept the one PT which I felt was the pick of the litter, but I eventually sold that to Serial, who sold it to Ted.That's my way of saying they make great guitars - lol!
Jeff R Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I briefly owned one of the C-1 Blackjack guitars and I was very impressed. Incredible level of bang-for-buck factor.
edgar_allan_poe Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I played one of the import 7s and was blown away by how well it was made. IMHO these can't be beat for the price. I compared it to an Ibanez 7 and it wasn't even close, the Schecter destroyed it.+1 Kiz....that couch put me to sleep in about 3 min!! LOL!!!Dave...any thoughts on having another DC get together?
tomteriffic Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 The somewhat fancier Stilletto (or was it Studio?) 8 string bass has been yelling at me as well.
cmatthes Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 They do make some cool stuff. One of the guitars that caught my attention the most after playing it in the last few years was a Tele Custom-esque model (can't recall the name, but it was the sheeet!). Laugh all you want, but I also think that the new Porl Thompson sig is pretty neat-O!
