Hamerhack Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Another cheapo late 1980's Yamaha owner here. It actually sounds good and plays well. My son will be taking it to college, so I guess I'll have to get something else!

CamptownShaker Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 1974 Guild D-something or other. Mahagony/Spruce. Plain, but sounds great. Bought new after high school.
Buzzy Fretts Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I'm an acoustic whore. that's all you got David? I figured you'd fill another page and a half. I've been honing my collection. the most recent addition is an OM clone built by a fellow down in the rainforest, back and side of ziricote and top of german alpine spruce. My go to live axe is a Martin Bellezza Nera, Italian alpine spruce over EIR, all shiney and black. My favorite of the bunch is a sweet little Martin 12 fretter with the phases of the moon up and down its neck. And the little kid on the block, a Martin Mini "terz" -f
Thundersteel Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Tacoma C1C Chief--doesn't look like much, but has a nice, full sound--more bass than what you'd expect!
DavidE Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I forgot that Paults has had my La Patrie Classical since January. I guess I don't miss it.If hybrids count, I have a 3 hold Hamer duotone and a Taylor T5.
Taylor Player Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 2003 Taylor 714-ce LTD Sitka/Cocobolo 1998 Taylor 510-ce Engelmann/Mahogany
tomteriffic Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Those Taylor 510's are bleedin' cannons. I never should have let mine go.

SteveE9C6 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 In the last few years I've played a few different pre war D45's, a slew of 28's, probably five or six different D18's, a really nice Stephen Stills D45, and way more that I can't remember. It is nice to be the founder of www.umgf.com What do I keep around the house? My favorite Martin... a trusty D35. I've also got a D16 GT for grins. I've read and hear all the stories about the D35 being too bass dominant. Stick a fresh pair of medium premium bronze strings on it in combination with a fossilized mammoth or tusk saddle... Yowza!
Buzzy Fretts Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 If hybrids count, I have a 3 hold Hamer duotone and a Taylor T5.haha. well we'll have to defer to the judges. how do you like the HD28? I've been a big fan of of the OM28 and have been lanning on testing the waters on its bigger sibling. In the last few years I've played a few different pre war D45's, a slew of 28's, probably five or six different D18's, a really nice Stephen Stills D45, and way more that I can't remember.is there more to those Stills models than a pretty face? I've been humbled by their prices along the way.
pesocaster Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 2 Ovation Elite T's Incredible bang for the buck... The acoustic for the Electric player... and the 12 string version (a gift from the hot chick I call my wife)

I've been a big fan of of the OM28 and have been lanning on testing the waters on its bigger sibling. There's a reason my HD28 has been around for 25 years. It sounds amazing. That's the guitar I brought to the Hamer Open House when we jammed in the bar. I remember we played Locomotive breath and it supplied some nice bass.I'm very impressed with many of the guitars owned by our HFC brethren. Excellent taste for sure!
sirDaniel Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 my one; my only... always a conversation piece and sounds/plays great
SteveE9C6 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 is there more to those Stills models than a pretty face? I've been humbled by their prices along the way. They are really as close to a prewar D45 mere mortals can afford. I've a friend in Houston who owns one of these as well as a D50. Amazing...
cmatthes Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 This one was a gift from my wife when I graduated Law School. It rings like a bell...a REALLY big, chimey bell.
tomteriffic Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 This one was a gift from my wife when I graduated Law School. It rings like a bell...a REALLY big, chimey bell. That's the Big Kabloona and Imperial Mafoof of 12-stringers right there. Truly the benchmark.
Jimbilly Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 I was playing a Taylor BigBaby, but I recently found an older MIJ Alvarez Yairi that is just too cool.
jwhitcomb3 Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Jonathan. d00d. Get some sun!He lives!Sun? What sun? It's still friggin' winter in New Hampshire! I'll get some sun after final exams and I emerge dazed and blinking into the light.-Jonathan
