bruce919 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I had wanted one for many many years. I found one on a trip to Japan for $1200 but I was closing on my house in two weeks so I passed. I got sniped on e-bay or did not have the $$ the few times (only 4 since I had been looking) they have been there. So I saved up & bought one after Hamer agreed to start making them again. So what happens I find on on e-bay for $550!!!!!!! LAST WEEK. It showed up today. It is much better then I had hoped. The carve on the top is a bit different then my newer version. Its a keeper, that is for sure. Karma was on my side that day. Its not for sale. "You can still Rock in America" Post some WATSONS Photos!!!!!!
Rockola Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Excellent! The Black rocks...What's the serial date?S.
edgar_allan_poe Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 That is awesome, I am glad it arrived safe and sound. That is the score of a lifetime!
veatch Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Just a wee-bit jealous on my side, but i'll get over it... Very glad this one had a happy ending (so to speak). Rock in America, baby!
unfun 75 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 My favorite part is the mini crown inlay on the 27th fret.
MCChris Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Damn, that was fast, all the way from Japan. Glad it arrived safely.
Hamerica Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Congrats on the score. That is just totally amazing. Hamerica
atquinn Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I just realized, that looks like the one Jeff Watson is holding on the cover of his (very good) Lone Ranger album. Cool!-Austin
ArnieZ Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Cool Matt!Glad it arrived safely and in great condition and thanks for renewing the hope that there are still some great scores out there.ArnieZ
cmatthes Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I just realized, that looks like the one Jeff Watson is holding on the cover of his (very good) Lone Ranger album. Cool! -Austin Lamest Cover Art EVER.
Guest JackButler Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Jeff REALLY couldn't say "no" to that artwork.. IIRC correctly when I talked to him, he said his wife did that painting as a gift.. and we ALL know.. no matter what.. KEEP HOME HAPPY! LOL!
serial Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I suppose it COULD have been worse. He coulda been riding on a Unicorn.
cmatthes Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 No - that would have just made it funny. I remember reading the liner notes that mention his GF/Wife did it for him and thinking "ugh, that poor guy couldn't get out of that one!". I'm sure it's hanging in a heavily gilded frame in the foyer of his home...
atquinn Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I just realized, that looks like the one Jeff Watson is holding on the cover of his (very good) Lone Ranger album. Cool! -Austin Lamest Cover Art EVER. Oh please. It's not even the lamest cover art made by someone you couldn't say no to. Or have you forgotten about: -Austin
cmatthes Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I think what Austin meant to post was this: From an artistic standpoint, that's just pathetic. Looks like a middle-schooler with a broken hand turned that in. Of course, that should be just one of Billy Joel's many regrets!
Bass Guy Dave Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 LOL on all the cover 'art.'Really glad to hear the Watson made it safe and sound. Congrats and great score, Matt! Good to see the good deals you've done with others are coming back with interest!
