I just about fell over the first time I saw it in his lovely Standard trio shot.I may be 1000th in line if it ever does come up for sale, but I'm ahead of some of you! More proof: The best inlays humanly possible for a Standard are the boomers. I dare someone to change my mind on that... +1. I never realized how cool the combination (Standard + boomers) could be until I saw this!

currypowder Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I initially contacted the original poster with this, but decided that I simply can't get rid of either of these. Neither of these are Hamers, but both are top-notch Japanese made Greco's. Black (no pickguard), bound and crowned. I'm not going to say they are every bit as good as a Hamer, but they come pretty close. The one in nicer condition is a 78 and is basically an Ibanez Destroyer with different pickups. the body is multi-piece, the pickups are Greco PU-2's which sound great, especially since they were potted by the previous owner (murkat). It's condition is nothing short of amazing for a 30+ year old guitar. I berated murkat for months to sell it to me. Before he did decide to sell it, though, I stumbled across one on ebay that looked like it had been rode hard and put out wet. Someone had put some stickers, pink paint, etc. on the guitar and then probably scraped it off using a paint scraper. It is scratched up all over the place, has paint on the pickups, had strings that looked like they were original to the guitar they were so old. But underneath all of the cosmetic problems is an absolutely superb guitar. It's an 82 and the body is not multi-piece like the 78. I'm not sure if it's a 1 piece, but no more than 2. No cracks or breaks. the pickups are Greco Double Trick, which are 1 step below their infamous Dry Z pickups. The frets are a little thinner and taller than the 78 (which I prefer) and both have fret edge binding. My intention was to try and clean it up to the best of my ability and possibly try to buff out some of the scratches on the top (knowing full well that I wouldn't be able to get them all). However, after cleaning it up just a little, restringing it and performing a very minor setup for intonation, I decided to leave it as is. I played it out on the day I received it and it performed as well as any guitar I own. Pics of the 78 Pics of the 82
