JGale Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I love it..congrats...charges filed?Fuck that. Fingers broken so the thief can't play again?
Jim Browne Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 It looked good in the craigslist photos. The seller described it as 'signed' and a signature model!I'm glad that it's finally returning to its rightful owner.Time to personalize my guitars.Wait, with a name as common as mine, that might not help!
mc2 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Fuck that. Fingers broken so the thief can't play again?I would be curious to know if the thief actually DOES play? I would think it is more likely just a non-playing thief who steals for money. It would sicken me more to know a fellow musician ripped off another one's gear.
Caddie Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Congratulations! That's fantastic, I know we are ALL very happy for you.Just curious guys how often does a stolen instrument end up back in the hands of its rightful owner? caddie
chap Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Thats awesome!!! Its not even my bass and my heart sank when I saw a pic of it then read that its stolen... sweeeeeet instrument!
pacealot Posted August 29, 2010 Author Posted August 29, 2010 Not as often as they should. Yeah, I'll bet. I know I'm incredibly lucky. I wish that same luck to any and all who have the misfortune of having an instrument stolen. Don't know about any charges filed or anything at this point (Portland PD's mailing me the full report), but it seems like the guy selling it on CL ran a thrift store nearby, and so I'm just guessing that he was probably somewhat hip to the deal on "hot" goods and surrendered it to the cops peaceably. Who knows how many hands (or how few) it passed through on its journey? It looks like it's still in great shape in the pics the guy posted - it probably was barely touched. Thanks again for all your help, ideas and well-wishes, and thanks again Greg for getting that serial # - it definitely helped clinch the deal. That, and that very clear headstock pic. I guess it WAS worth the slight upcharge to indulge myself and get my name on the headstock! See, vanity can actually be useful!! Paul
