JJ Paul Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 You guys remember to keep the guitties tucked safely ABOVE THE BED, not under.Oh yeah...pls don't use them as paddles for your canoe or surfboards if the surf starts to get interesting...Ok - smartass banter over.Take care and hope that everything goes well. Strum your guitts to cheer yer' hearts and your loved ones.PaulFrom half-submerged Switzerland...
edgar_allan_poe Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Damn...just woke up 'cuz I was gigging last night and just turned on the tube. You guys be safe. The HFC couldn't find nicer guys than the Daigles and Reeeeeeshard. The hospitality these guys showed Kiz and I last week was unlike anything I have experienced. Best wishes from D and I...drop us a line when you get the chance to let us know that you are safe.

thecajunboy Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 ALL GABLED ROOFS WILL FAIL...LEAVING THOSE HOMES SEVERELY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. Yeah, that's my worry right now. I should be far enough west though, to be fairly confident my shit will still be standing. And yeah Jim, that there's a tempacha gauge. And not allygator, but soft-shelled crab.
kizanski Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 And yeah Jim, that there's a tempacha gauge. And not allygator, but soft-shelled crab. ...and it was goooood!
edgar_allan_poe Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 ...and it was goooood!Wasn't everything? OK...we maybe had *one* bad meal the whole week.
Brooks Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I've stocked up on the necessities today (two cases!)...And the Micro Cube runs on batteries. We're good to go. i love you.
mc2 Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I JUST got back from Nawlins LAST NIGHT !!! Made the flight by just minutes due to the traffic/ Was down for a music conference. My places are just TWO blocks off the Mississippi and close to the French Quarter, so I'm thinking it may be gone in another day or so. One is brick but has a frame roof...the others are 200-year-old frame. This SUCKS!!Maybe I can trade them right now for a Hamer before the storm hits??
Cary Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 This looks like it's going to be a bad one - Be safe, guys!
hamerboy_ Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I had the pleasure of meeting and talkin' cajun eats with the Cajunboy at the open house last year. PLEASE be safe. It's not looking good. I'm afraid that my home-away-from-home, The Bienville House on Decatur in the Quarter may not be there on my annual trip to NOLA. I'm prayin' for all those down there.-Bobby
mattb Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Be safe Cajun. I hope everything is ok down there.-MattB
Stike Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 This does not look good. Hoping for the best for all in LA and that Coops will still be there for my next visit to NOLA
Jeff R Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Big fat smoochie backatcha, brooks! Working on a new bluesy song called "Findin' Myself In a Mason Jar," inspired by an experience in the deep swamp last week with Cajun Boy, Poe and Kiz, a new friend of ours, and a little stash of sweetness hidden in our new friend's kitchen. The only thing missing (outside of the Mason jar sweetness) is the swamp right now, but my backyard will double for one in about 12 hours. The horizontal rain pelts have already started whooshing like tacks against the east side of the house. Gonna be a fun night and tomorrow's gonna be, eh, funner!
BCR Greg Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Jeffro, take care of the wife and lil' cajun segment of the family.I know YOU'LL be fine, but make sure that THEY are.
cmatthes Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Just heard from my In-laws and wife's brother - they weren't able to get out of town, so will be riding the storm out in the Hyatt (Hilton?) right near the Superdome - they are staying with all the media crews, apparently. They managed to get 9th floor and an interior-facing room. We'll be holding our breath for the next 24-48 hours or so, at any rate. Cellphone reception is really spotty, and I figure it'll only get worse or stop entirely for the worst of it. No matter what, it doesn't look good for anybody there. We're hoping and praying for the best for EVERYBODY in that part of the Country. Family, friends, co-workers...hope things work out more positively in the next few days/weeks.Very special thanks to Jeff R. for his thoughtful phone call this afternoon.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Our thoughts are with you. And you better get another case if you can bro. I was in a bad one in Hawaii in 1982 and we ran out of beer after 2 days.
hamertek98 Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Good luck everyone!!!! Let us know you're OK!
specialized2 Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Yo Jeff R, Cajun, et all... hope all is well, News said nothing major yet but still! Jeff R, you are not the only HFC member on the level.... just be careful son My friend did that whole mason jar thing, they definetly didn't work as intended... That was a toughee to 'splain to the ER doods
Guest galejt Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 NPR is reporting landfall at 0730 EST with a track just East of Nawlins and Cat IV status. Better, but still not good. Hunker down ladies and resist the urge to go on walkabout in the flotsam and jetsam.
DavidE Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Good luck boys. We'll see you on the other side...
bobbymack Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Prayers for all you guys in the path...Looks like there's a chance NO will be spared the worst of it.
thecajunboy Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Jusst about 7:30 CDST here in Baton Rouge and the power is obviously still on. Getting some healthy doses of rain and wind gusts in the 30s. Power is out down at my place.
BCR Greg Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 To say that the HFC is behind you would be overstating the obvious.I,myself, am WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY behind you. As far away as I can be.Keep us posted, buddy, and we'll keep our fingers crossed.
