I don't think it'll go that high, honestly.

Love the color, but that is one messed-up looking guitar...

I agree. $1,200 - $1,500 is my guess.

However, Keep in mind that I once predicted that bottled water would never sell and Starbucks could not succeed at pushing over roasted coffee at $5.00 a hit.

The owner will probably pull the auction before it ends. If they really think its worth $12,500 then they are going to be bummed out!

That's what I was thinking. I wonder if he'll have the balls to ride out a potential flurry of last minute bids.

Then again, this is eBay. He might just let it run its course and then not honor the sale if the price is too low.

Man that thing is a total visual atrocity. IMHO.

Sorry but I just had to bid $350.00

+1. Which means somebody will probably buy it. ;)

I'm still trying to figure out who Jimmie LEE Vaughn IS, as far as this guitar is concerned. This guy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmie_Lee_Vaughan ...not likely, he died in 1986...unless Hamer was really slow on orders back then  . I can't tell if he even played anything. He was around musicians, but was he a player?

...or this guy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmie_Vaughan ...so, where did the 'Lee' come from? :P I've never heard of THIS Jimmie Vaughan being called 'Jimmie Lee'...and I was listening to the T-Birds long before 'Tuff Enuff'.

I really like it too...fortunately it sounds like most of you won't be bidding against me

edited to add: I asked for a shot of what the routing under the guard looks like to see if something smaller or a different shape would be possible. He answer with "I won't be back in town in time".

If that holds true he also won't be around to end it before it sells for thousands less than he was previously asking.

It's sort of a visual oxymoron....boomer shredder inlays and white cowboy pickguard and binding.

I think it needs a pair of white steer horns on the purple body of something.

It's cool in a Karmann Ghia sort of ugly cool way.

Look better than the pink and purple B8S....and THAT already sold! Same year too....what was that Hamer's purple era?

**Crunchee may be correct in his suspicions about WHICH Vaughm this actually was made for.....since Brian (seller) makes no real reference to the Jimmie Vaughn but, rather, letes the buyer "assume." Kind of strange for a seller of rare guitars not to hype it up if it IS from a famous player, no?

He can do that from anywhere in the world simply by logging onto the internet.

Well, sure...if he logs into the internet

...or provide that "hands-on description" he offered up via phone...

He also does not know it's scale length, nor can provide before auction's end.

I'm still wondering who Jimmie LEE Vaughan is, as I mentioned before. If Hamer screwed up on the name, I'd be surprised that they let this one out. The Devil is in the details! ;)

SRV and JLV's dad was named Jimmie Lee Vaughan. But I'm with you, I don't think this guitar was made for James Lawrence Vaughan.

Plus, their dad died in 1986, the year before this guitar was made.

Hope this helps. Does not seem like a big mystery to me who the guitar is for.

SRV refers to Jimmie as 'Jimmie Lee' on his live album.

I stand corrected...was this in the liner notes, or in the recording itself? I just got the feeling that this was an assumption on somebody's part, since his and his Dad's name are similar but not exactly the same, and I never found anything solidly definitive saying so. Not everything on the 'net is true, so I was erring on the side of caution.

I emailed the dude. He has absolutely no proof to who owned it. I asked him why it was Jimmy LEE and not Jimmy LAWRENCE. He had no answer but, "That was what I was told".

Yeah right, I wouldn't trust him.

I think this was just answered above...seems the man is frequently referred to as "Jimmie Lee," even by his more talented brother.
