cmatthes Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hamer-Standard-Vintage-Near-Mint-Low-Number-/220902315671?pt=Guitar&hash=item336ecdd697 Insane price, even for a clean '79, but have a look at it anyway!
murkat Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Beat me to it.Nice. But,sets a new bar for? That is some serious coin.
cmatthes Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 It only sets a bar if it sells! Who wants the over/under on this one?
crunchee Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Ouch, +1 on the price! I wonder how the neck and action is? It IS a one piece neck, except for the extra bits on the headstock, correct?
serial Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Maybe. If it doesn't sell, he'll either come down or trade or learn to like it-that looks like a nice one. I don't know if it's the cleanest, but it sure looks good.I remember when I sold a Standard for $3500 and people didn't believe me.I've been offered more for my '76 on a three or four occasions.
dgstandard Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Sure is a beauty! Is that serial number ink or stamped?
ScubaMarket Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Wow... And they said 4K was crazy to pay for mine when i had bought it.
Brentrocks Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 If I were independently wealthy, I'd buy that in a heartbeat
svl Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I have a feeling we are in for a big price hike on our beloved line. I recently had an offer on my B&C '78 'Burst which was hard to turn down because it seemed so ridiculously high.Starting to think it wasn't so high after all...
RichRS6 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Nice, but not as nice as the natural 79 Barry (bnenary) snagged via the forum recently for half the money.

dobieboy Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 What, no free shipping? My thoughts exactly....
velorush Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 My favorite color of burst! At this point looking is ALL I'll be able to do.
dhuber Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Get em while you can..............................79 Does not seem that vintage to me. I must be getting old. I think I'd have to call Hamer and see what a custom would cost. I don't think I'd pay up of a 1979, but that's just me.
ScubaMarket Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Nice, but not as nice as the natural 79 Barry (bnenary) snagged via the forum recently for half the money.Im still kicking my own ass for missing out on that one....
RichRS6 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I remember seeing a Sunburst 58 Les Paul for £3500.00 in 1979 and it seemed ludicrously expensive then.
Ned B Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I remember Martin Barre's sold on ebay for around the same price about 5-6 years ago, but hasn't that one like number 3 or thereabouts?
serial Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Barre's is #0002 and was used in the early ads.
RichRS6 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Barre's is #0002 and was used in the early ads.So where is 0002 now ?or 0001.Any Pics...................?
HamStd Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 0001 is Martin Turner's bass, but I don't think he owns it any more (not sure).0002 is still in Europe, it actually went for $12K. Very hard to pry it out of the current owner's hands.........Peter
cmatthes Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 That would be a lot more reasonable (if not incredibly CHEAP!) for #0002. I'd have pegged that to go for nearly double that selling price.Reinforces that the asking price for that '79 is not in touch with reality. At least not current reality...
