MCChris Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 What can I say, when Fung posted this for sale it sent me back to my college days, when I often imagined owning a Chaparral with a reverse headstock after seeing one in a Hamer catalog (not really sure why, as I'm hardly a shredder). This one was in my price range (saving me thousands off a custom order, plus delivering the proper headstock and logo) so I just had to have it. Now, if I did place a custom order it would have been in tobacco burst with a much chunkier neck profile and a flush-mount trem. But again, this is a decades-old vision realized. And the black sparkle looks badass in person, much better than my awful photography skills can convey. Will it stay with me for the long haul? Who knows. But for now, I'm very happy to own it.

I think this could axe could take your imprint, y'know? A little eccentric-looking...not terribly wacky/overboard. Enjoy (especially if that's a recess-mounted Floyd )!

Now I've got some with floyds and mental finishes, I still play the same old tired blues licks that I always have, but feel happy in myself that the playability of these things is soooo good, and I don't care that some other people expect 100% shred off them. People who's opinions I respect know better than that.Superstrats like this are every bit as good as anything out there to play, and actually I don't believe that the mystical tone suffers from having locking terms on board. Love them. Comfy. Versatile, and unfashionable. Perfect!

The shortscale chaps have 3 mini-switches for the pickups. The 25.5" scale ones have the blade switch. They're not uncommon (if you want uncommon, try looking for a shortscale one with just one bridge pickup! ). IIRC, they made them shortscale first and then moved to the longer scale. That's an awesome guitar, especially the recessed trem! - Austin
