My daughter (5years old going on 15) has informed me she wants to be a Rockstar at dinner last week. After being gone all weekend to Grandma's House she came home to my guitars hanging out on the couch. She told her Mom "I want to be a Rockstar" but I need a guitar. She looks over the room and says "Hey you have another guitar but I don't see it, I want one like that". She moves to the back room and says "I see the case this is it"! So I pulled the Shishkov out and this is what she said.

"Yes, that is the one but I need one that looks cooler than this one". WTF? I think I'm going to need one in Trans Pink, Natural Back, Bound with Dot Inlays, with a slimmer neck. I'm guessing 3/4 In size. She may be a little short on funds.......

This is what guitars are supposed to do, inspire someone to pick them up and play.

Come on Bubs - the sooner you get her in the queue the sooner she becomes a rock star! It'd be sad if she's well into her thirties before she hits super stardom just because dad procrastinated on getting her axe done!

I do love the spec, however!

My daughter (8 years old and a fan of Muse and The Joy Formidable) sat with me in Photoshop to pick out the perfect transparent orange for No. 21. So she's psyched to see it today. Maybe it'll inspire her to pick up her left-handed pink Daisy Rock now and then instead of the every-once-in-a-blue-moon sitting in her room plinking a few notes and declaring she's writing a new song.

Last night my five-year-old asked me "daddy, how 'bout you put on some good ol' Grateful Dead."

I don't get choked up much but that one got me.

Yes, both of my little ones listen more than I realize. They catch me off guard buy saying "I really like that song". Usually it is the Derek Trucks or Keb Mo. Something with soul, but they get a fair share of POP and Country from Daycare and Mommy.

The Squier Mini Strat. 3/4 size and $99. I recently got one my daughter who kept saying, "I want to play guitar". I taught her an Em before bed and she had a D down before I woke up the next day.

Very cool.

Here is a thought. Ordering her a custom guitar might well be cheaper than buying, and equipping for several years, a Barbie doll. And likely hold its value better too.

And of course I would get to play it as well. :)

School work first, she is in a transition period between schools and as soon as she is back on track piano first.

She was very struck by my guitars and I told her "Don't get attached". She really liked the Sparkle Phantom.

That's cool! Nice to have some common bonds like that. I'm hoping my daughter gets into playing as well. I've always wanted a (wife friendly and approved) reason to buy an old Mustang or Duo-tone, but a Shishkov might not be a bad idea either!

But if she's your daughter Bubs, she's gonna go thru 3-4 different guitars a year for the next 15 yrs or so...

She really liked the Sparkle Phantom.

I dunno, seems clear to me what to do...

Sell it and buy something else? The Phantom is Staying, my winter project is going to be giving Mr. Gravlin a ring and working up some pups for it.

My daughter is quite happy to hold a guitar but actually playing it is proving harder for her to grasp. The way she hits the strings with her little thumb is hilarious. Mind you she's only a toddler so its early days.
