Would these knobs be an abomination?

When I upgraded my Slammer Series Sunburst, I put on some amber top hat style knobs (for as much 4-digit look-alikedness as I could get with a tune-a-matic).  I love the look, but I've been working on some songs that involve volume swells and wishing these knobs were a little less slippery.  I'm normally a Tele guy and I'm used to the knurled metal - very grippy.

I really don't want Tele knobs on my nice Sunburst, but I thought these gold "bell" knobs might be a compromise.  They're kinda shaped like the top hats (okay, they're Strat knobs) and they have some "grip".

Whadda ya think?  Look okay?  Abomination?  Should I just learn to deal with the top hats?

Somebody should make top hats with knurled rubber rings around them, like the sort-of speed knobs Ibanez used in the '70s.

Peavey Soapbar Firenzas came with amber speed knobs with a recessed area covered with a very grippy rubber band. Peavey still sells them if you call their parts dept. They look great, work great, and are a really good design.

Alternatively, you could keep the top hats you have and slip an o-ring over the top to add some grip.

Yes, those knobs are an abomination. Try scuffing your current knobs with a bit of sand paper. Or you could try installing a low friction pot.

Wow. I used the word "abomination" as what I thought was humorous rhetorical overkill, but it seems that the HFC agree in  landslide.

I'm considering grippy amber speed knobs (and thanks to those who provided suggestions or links).  My only concern is that I previously tryed regular gold speed knobs in this guitar, and they kind of take over the whole top.  Speed knobs look really big on the Sunburst's compact body and it's somewhat tight pot spacing.  But thanks all for your input.  Blingy gold Strat knobs are a big NO.

Three negative comments is a landslide in your world?  Better toughen up buttercup.

Not "negative"...  "helpful".  Also, in keeping with my initial instinct.

And, while only a few actively criticized the BGSKs, everybody else either said "leave it" or offered alternate suggestions.  I take that as a unanimous NO on the BGSKs.

But there were ZERO comments FOR the new knobs.  Either people were negative or politely suggested something else.

1989.  I saw it in a theater in a not-so-nice part of Winston-Salem when it first came out.  Pure genius.

The Fishbone cameo (With Curtis Mayfield) in that scene is worth the price of admission.  When I saw them at VCU in 1990, Norwood Fisher slung an Ice Pearl Impact and Kendall Jones had a Hamer Checkerboard strap on whatever neon shredder he was slinging that night.  Hamer content!
