kizanski Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 https://reverb.com/item/58909227-robin-ranger-standard-2003-metallic-gold 2003 Robin Ranger Standard in Metallic Gold So I don't know the guitar, but I have met the seller several times. Hillarius (yes, that's his real name) worked for the late, great Dave Wintz at the Robin Guitars factory for at least 10, 15 years, I'd say. Here is he is below with Dave during a presentation at a Robin Open House in 2005. So, I've always been partial to Robin guitars, but in this case I would be willing to bet that the guy with access to every part on the shelf would have picked/assembled a good one. That, coupled with the very reasonable price and I would say you should jump on it. I would if I were buying and not selling.
topekatj Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 She’s gone in 24 minutes! I love the maple that Robin used for their necks.
cynic Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 It’s not everyday a guitar becomes available that plays like butter.
Drew816 Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Great under-rated guitars, and that one was a real beaut Clark!

donner Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Hmm, the golden one would have made black-red-gold. That's a bit like the German flag:

santellavision Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Here's my 'ol Ranger. BCR Greg had this one made for me in Redwood. Cool guitars for sure.

topekatj Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Number 3, cream w/ ebony fingerboard. $1199-. Nice! https://reverb.com/item/58971548-robin-ranger-standard-2006-cream

fguitbert Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 So I am the compulsive one that jumped on the first. I’ve heard about Robin guitars long enough without being able to set my hands on one that I shut my brain off and went for it. I have high hopes. All the love expressed after Dave Wintz’s passing also nurtured my impression that there is something special going on. The seller has a few more he will be selling. Has anyone tried both a Standard and a Custom Ranger? If so, is it justified investing significantly more?
stobro Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Reminds me of the baritone Ranger I had about a dozen or more years ago. If I had figured out more uses for it I would have kept it- it was a fine guitar.
JGale Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Mine was a BCR purchase. It had a neck larger than a Louisville Slugger 35.
The Shark Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 In my opinion, that seller left some meat on the bone. I might have a couple Robins to sell. But they won't be under 2K!
topekatj Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 He’s listed No. 4: three color burst w/ black pickguard. $1399- https://reverb.com/item/59015602-robin-ranger-standard-2000-3-tone-sunburst SOLD!
