diablo175 Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 BC Rich has released this Legacy USA series Gunslinger for a whopping $4199.99. 🤔 Discuss.
Stike Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 The likelihood of me ever paying $4200 for ANY guitar is slim AF but for a bolt on shredder? That's a big ol naw.
diablo175 Posted August 24, 2023 Author Posted August 24, 2023 I'm reminded of the oft-stated idiom that asking isn't getting.
Steve Haynie Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 It might be possible that guitar and its price are meant to create the perception that B.C. Rich is that desirable. Whether they sell those Gunslinger model guitars or not, the price will stick in the heads of people who can only dream of buying the best guitars one day.
Dave Scepter Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 How bout this one for $6.5K? Like I said, people will buy anything 🙄
Jeff R Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Better, from every square mm of wood, components and craftsmanship, to the skillsets, knowledge and experience of the primary collaborators (Grover Jackson, Stike and myself). Less than $4K

Less than $4K Yeah, but it doesn’t have a reverse headstock or toggle switch. 😜
Stike Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Shit, I have a Korean Gunslinger project kicking around I could reassemble, I'd sell for a lot less than $4200. 😄

That guitar kicked major ass! Seriously, the only issue I had with that guitar was the 22 frets. Otherwise, it was on f-ing point.
veatch Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 I have an early 80s assassin neck through that was a quarter of that price. No way for 4k. Wouldn't mind a Nagel graphic though. I'm a friend of all guitars, after all... : )
diablo175 Posted August 24, 2023 Author Posted August 24, 2023 So, here's my take: Yeah, WAY too much asking price for a bolt on. There's nothing on/of that guitar that's remotely worthy of that price point. Alder body. Scarf neck joint. Korean Floyd. Unremarkable DiMarzio p'up. The pearl paint is a slight step up from a standard poly finish but still a solid- no awesome graphic. Not like this is being built by Joe Williams, Mike Shannon or Mike Shishkov. These are ghost built by some unknown entity for BC Rich, who had it's own checkered history in the last 25 years, to put it mildly. They've changed hands so many times no one knows WTF is actually building them and who's calling the shots. Hard pass.

Biz Prof Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 I think they accidentally added an extra zero onto the price of that reissue Gunslinger.

veatch Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Great. Now I'm searching Reverb for an 80s Nagel. I never learn...

I put together this Nagel inspired parts caster a few years ago as part of a fundraiser for an animated presentation project that never got picked up to series. Warmoth body, Musikraft neck, Gotoh bridge. Had my preferred local tech do a fret level and this dumb looking thing plays like a dream and for well under $4200.

veatch Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Love it. Now I'm wondering if the $6k BCs are stickers...
Disturber Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 That headstock! Jees, they will have to give them away.
diablo175 Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 Several of my HEL builds came in at about 1K less than the 'Slinger's asking price and I got a metric f*ck ton more guitar.
tbonesullivan Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 ????? Is there 2 grand stuck in the trem cavity or something?
