Dave Scepter Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Awesome Standard, but not a fan of the black hardware

cornjulio Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 The memory of this guitar stuck with me over the years. Actually liked the black hardware on it. I'm not buying at the moment but the price of USD 6,699.00 doesn't seem overly crazy these days.
gorch Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 It depicts quite dark with the black hardware. Could have more color on it though. A wonderful Standard, nevertheless.
tbonesullivan Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 woooow. They are in the process of re-opening the showroom at the Music Zoo, so in a month or so you won't need an appointment to look at gear. Might still be there by then.

They posted on IG Saturday, 6 April, was the Grand Re-Opening. They subsequently posted some video and photos - looks like they were fairly overwhelmed. They posted they'll now be open to the public on Saturdays and by-appointment-only Monday through Friday.

Ahh, I guess it happened quicker than I expected. When I picked up the Jake E. Lee blueburst on March 23rd, they said it would be a month or two. There's some good food down the street, so maybe I'll need to take a trip out there once people calm down.
stedge Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 You gotta be a good player to rock that guitar. Too bad i suck.
Cboss Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Did Hamer ever make a standard with body contours? Like a chap, prototype, so many others..

Cboss Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 I wonder why.. I might have to make one, I generally play sitting down and my standard is much less comfortable than the contoured guitars.. it's an import, that might be thicker than a USA which we contribute to the issue
kizanski Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 2 minutes ago, Cboss said: it's an import, that might be thicker than a USA which we contribute to the issue I don't think there is a difference in thickness, USA Standard to import Standard. There is definitely a difference in the thickness when comparing a Standard to a Gibson Explorer, however.

I bought a Gibson Explorer a year or two ago just to remind me that I don't need a Standard . (But who is kidding whom, here: of course I still want one, I just don't want to pay the sky-high price.)

The Explorer is thinner by at least a quarter inch, maybe 3/8.. for me much more comfortable Butttt... the early '80s hamers that I have are so effing incredible resonant, alive, roaring...that I bet a 4 digit standard is worth every one of those many dollars
