My 2 cents.....I do have an Elite. Goldtop with non-original P90s. Lollars, IIRC. IMO, it is a better guitar than the original 1956 Goldtop I had for nearly 2 decades. (Longer story on what happened there). Suffice to say it fills that niche very well. Yeah, there IS a difference in market value! 😉 The "shelf" is not an issue for me on either that guitar or my number 1 Hamer (Monaco Superpro). Do not expect either to pop up for sale.....5 points

I have one I'll be taking to the Tampa Guitar Show next month. It's got a blister "10-top" with a sunburst that's very little yellow to lots of red. It's killer, but is a bit weighty. A little over nine pounds. Impeccable workmanship. Near mint. From the vault. It will be $2,500.4 points

We do have NHRIBS to address those unfortunate threads that begin with IBS and a not dead yet subject. But we shouldn't have to. Maybe use GOS (getting old sucks) for announcements like Rick, or Lionel Richie, or any of the others who have suffered and the many who eventually will suffer tour-interrupting medical events and the like, but are not reported to be exceptionally grave? In the latter cases, we could use CTD (circling the drain). Or KOHD (knocking on heaven's door).4 points

the biggest thing is do it like you mean it. your vocal/playing sucks? it don't matter.... you play what you mean.. stand and deliver. that comes across.3 points

It's 9.5 pounds. Buy it and play it until you find that featherweight for sale. And do some deadlifts.2 points

I've lowered the price $1,000! Time for this one to go to a very lucky owner. This guitar is fantastic.2 points

I played a Monaco Elite many years ago and it was a great guitar. Really considered getting one in trans black but never pulled the trigger. To me they sounded more like a beefier Hamer Studio than a Les Paul, but with the right EQ you can get super close. I think most people turned their noses up at them because of the “shelf” on the treble side at the neck joint. Although, many of those same people wouldn’t say a thing about that shelf being on the original LP Jrs and Specials back in the day…2 points

I had a short scale Monaco Elite Mahogany years ago and it was great and did the LP thing very well. I now have a hollow Fender-scale Monaco Monaco which has an incredible neck that is downright Shishkovian. The carved top Monacos are typical Hamer quality…overbuilt and super-playable. And the shelf is a non-issue. Buy with confidence.2 points

....Or this pretty blue one on Reverb: https://reverb.com/item/93553403-hamer-monaco-elite-indigo-blue-2007?sv1=affiliate&sv_campaign_id=1001765&awc=67144_1790429678_948911063c731b167cb169553b94e163 $2250. I've never owned one but came close. It was very similar to the 'Smokehouse burst' one above. It felt great, like a Hamer (great neck, don't remember it being unusually heavy. It was new and right around $1500 (20 years ago). Shoulda. Didn't. Stupid (and poor). Being a Hamer, you'll take a hit or sit on it awhile. Nobody seems to be buying shit now. At least with GC you can send it back if it's not your thing.2 points

HI fellas, in German Kleinanzeigen popped up today, just 2 hrs ago: A complete Sustainblock-Trem in parts, off of a Hamer A5, as the seller says. https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/sustainblock-tremolo-hamer-a5-/3525075818-74-1178 No affiliation, but I would assist, if anybody feeks like making some wobbles. Cheers, Jochen1 point

I have been taking care of Davy Knowles' guitars and at a recent show I brought my 59 TV for him to play. He asked me if I had an amp in the van. I had my trusty old bulletproof Tech21 Trademark60. He told me to bring it in that we would jam and I assumed this would be before the show. I was wrong… It was during the show. For your entertainment pleasure, here is the head cutting section at the end of the song…1 point

Yeah..I've gone back to that one many times and your right..it is pretty! I've had my eye on a red (Not a stock color) one that's been there for over 2 years and I've made what I thought to be legitimate fair offers but, He/she has a number stuck in their head that they aren't budging from which I totally respect. It is a custom color and all..lol! I just may have to cave in...lol!!1 point

There are nine GC stores within an hour's drive of my home. Two are excellent. The others occasionally have some interesting used inventory.1 point

Hi everyone, not really about Hamer Guitars, but I believe could be useful for community: I play guitar at home, and over the years I ended up with the usual mess: backing tracks in one folder, tabs in another, half of it sitting in Downloads as yt-dl-2019.mp3 — and I was supposed to remember where the solo starts. Every "let's play this one" turned into a hunt for the pieces, so eventually I gave up and spent a few years playing along to YouTube: open a backing track video, find the tab by eye, wait for the solo to come around. At some point it was easier to just build the thing. (I liked Line 6 GearBox back in the day, and they killed it.) So I made an app that keeps all of it in one place, and I'm giving it away free. What works today — macOS 14+, Apple Silicon and Intel, English/Russian/German: https://jamcrate.app Drop in a folder of your own music — it sorts itself into artists and songs, and pairs a tab with a track when the names match. Everything stays on your Mac. Missing a backing track? Alt+Cmd+Y, paste a link, and the audio lands in your library with everything else. Keep only what you have the right to keep. Tabs, lyrics, chords and Guitar Pro 3–5 open right next to the track — the fretboard grid is rendered by the app, not shown as an image. Alt-click the waveform (or hit M where you are) to mark a solo, then loop just that part instead of the whole song. Tempo down to 0.5x without changing pitch. Setlists play straight through and change songs on their own. Open a set on your phone: the Phone window shows a QR code, you scan it on the same Wi-Fi, and the set plays from the phone with the audio streamed from your Mac — solo loops and transport included. You can also keep an offline copy of a set on the phone, for when the Mac isn't there. The music never leaves your network. Links and notes per song, search across the library, and a one-button backup of the whole collection.1 point

I had a Goldtop Elite P-90 that I never should have gotten rid of. It was alittle heavy tho.1 point

I predict that the GC "mid tier" guitar will be made in the Cort factory in Indonesia, look very much like a PRS and sell for $1,500.00 with a gig bag.1 point

GC.com used inventory is where they remain relevant for me, maybe 75% of my gear comes from there. Lands on your porch, test drive up to 45 days, return locally if its not a keeper.1 point
