Did Anybody Here Snag The 25th Anniversary Artist At DGS Today?

No affiliation.  IIRC, I don't remember seeing these in Tobacco Sunburst, the ones I remember were in Cherry Transparent, plus also the silver 'Vanguard' model; but anything's possible I suppose.  The finish looks like it might be suffering from 'Pizza Day', though I don't see any obvious fingerprints under the finish:

I seem to remember there being 13 black ones.  Didn’t know they made any others in anything besides red.  Did this one actually say 25th Anniversary on the headstock?

Yes it did, I made it a point to check the headstock when I originally saw it.  I had one in cherry transparent several years ago, and both had the same '25th Anniversary' legend on the headstock.

Interesting.  I had no idea!

I have no actual knowledge of this, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the many 1-off guitars built for Bill Kaman.

BTW, if anybody wants copies of the photos of this guitar listing from DGS, they keep them on file for a week or so usually, just in case the guitar gets returned and needs to be relisted.  They might be able to accomodate if they're asked nicely.

According to THE BOOK (pp.152) the 25th Anniversary Model was an "all mahogany Artist without body binding, finished in cherry transparent with a small script below the headstock logo designating it as the Anniversary model. A very limited number of black 25th anniversary model guitars exist in the run, which ended in 1999."

No mention of a burst, which lends credence to @BadgerDave's theory  of a special one-off.

Black, all mahogany, no binding, no small script. i wondered how many black "artistes" there were when i got it. my guess is 13 with 25th logo, obviously more without ?

Yeah Dave's is definitely the Glamor Shots of guitar photos, cost me a 6-hour round trip once.. I prefer the honest Reverb picture
