@cmatthesme, Shawn Pase, Jeff Houston and George Evans (RIP) saw the IHB opening for Heart on the Bebe Le Strange tour at the Wicomico Civic Center. It was fantastic. Both bands at the top of their game.  Ronno and Howard Leese were killing it. That was the tour where Ann Wilson was doing Hunter according to the Heart bio.

We found some stairs during the Heart opener (Bebe)and climbed up directly over the band…we got down after one song for fear of being found out and kicked out. Great show.

The 1980 German Rockpalast-Show (imagine: all night long until 4 in the morning! Illegaly watched with friends in the office of my first workplace, as I had no TV at home) was one of the most groundbreaking, earthshattering RnR-expriences for the 18-year-old me, then.

I always have loved Ian Hunter and Ronno, still do.

That was Tom Morongiello with the Standard.

Indeed it was Tom's guitar.  Here it is.  A good friend knows Tommy Mandel who was kind enough to make an introduction for me.

Enjoy.

That looks pristine! What a great example and the burst is perfect.

It's so glorious when that kicks in.

I've spent hours going through different live versions to find which one turns into the best perfect, boozy rock n' roll mess.

Cool.  Hunter was such a great talent.

He's still kicking it at 85!  He toured here in 2019, and has released 2 albums in the last 2 years.

The man hasn't totally slowed down!

Rocking it. Not kicking it.
Kicking it is something that most 85 year olds will eventually do.

Well, there was going to be a Mott the Hoople reunion tour around 2021 or 2022, and after tickets were sold the tour got canceled because Ian had tinnitus.

Ian can still write and record music.  Playing shows... let's be happy for the shows we were lucky enough to see.

Tinnitus?  Who of us doesn't?  Didn't realize I could be getting out of work because of it.  🤣

Seriously though, he had to be on some loud stages over the past 50+ years.

Also, I loved the show Fridays.  Once the original SNL folks started bailing, they offered a good alternative.

I saw this live and still have it on VHS somewhere.  Ellen Foley guested on "We gotta' get out of here"...

Welcome to the Club is one of my favorite live albums ever.

The guy that sold my first guitar, a white Fender Tele that I still have, played in a band in the 70s and early 80s that covered this song.  It is forever seared into my brain.  Wonder if I can learn it before the Frozen Jam?
