velorush Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 I had avoided Sabs as I avoided all of the "Satan as a Marketing Ploy" bands as they just creeped me out, but I ran into this in the Heavy Metal animated feature. I don't recall the specific scene, but it hit me with such intensity, music + visual, that I had to find out who it was. It continues to be a favorite and is on my Spotify workout playlist. Great for squatting (relatively) heavy! 2 Quote
Dave Scepter Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 (edited) Still relevant...🙏 Revolution in their minds, the children start to march Against the world in which they have to live And all the hate that's in their hearts They're tired of being pushed around And told just what to do They'll fight the world until they've won And love comes flowing through, yeah Children of tomorrow live in the tears that fall today Will the sun rise up tomorrow bring in peace in any way? Must the world live in the shadow of atomic fear? Can they win the fight for peace or will they disappear? Yeah So, you children of the world Listen to what I say If you want a better place to live in Spread the word today Show the world that love is still alive, you must be brave Or you children of today are children of the grave, yeah Edited September 19, 2025 by Dave Scepter 5 Quote

Great for squatting (relatively) heavy! Funny, I was just thinking back to my younger daze when I would be playing both offerings of the Nativity in Black: A Tribute to Black Sabbath. That was very effective motivational music while going for my PBs/a new max at the gym. With the exception of a handful of tracks from Sabotage and RJD-era Sabs, not sure if the cuts from Ozzy-era Sabs would have helped much in the couple of times I benched 305 lbs. Like Ozzy himself, my days of achieving those levels of PBs/Max's are gone. Edited September 19, 2025 by diablo175 2 Quote

LucSulla Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 I could never. Hole in the Sky Sabbra Cadabra Supernaut - the song that is more of a jam than any jam band has ever managed. The Writ - Ozzy's best vocals on tape IMO I love Mob Rules, but not sure where I would fit it. Dio Sabbath is so different to me. 3 Quote
Jakeboy Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Iron Man….just for its impact on me as a young 70s guitar player. So heavy, so rocking. I have made it a fave of my young grandkids. It is everything rock. 2 Quote
Submariner85 Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 (edited) I like the Dio fronted Black Sabbath but I recently listened to the whole Paranoid album and it is damned good beginning to end. Edited September 25, 2025 by Submariner85 3 Quote
wil50n Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 (edited) Snowblind, specifically from Live At Last. The second of feedback at the beginning - how much gain was Iommi using ?!?!? His guitar tone is filthy !! The opening grand fanfare, the tense verse riff. Ozzy enthusiastically shouting COCAINE !! https://youtu.be/A57eaK3cZ8A?si=_U4CJCKahH9RzIdg Edited September 25, 2025 by wil50n revised 3 Quote
joshoowah Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 (edited) I'm surprised no one mentioned "Changes," my all-time favorite "Wait... who is this?" shocking artist treasure. Most people probably know the covers better than the original, like Proud Mary or Respect. It's great fun seeing people react with "I never knew they had this in them!" diablo175 Posted September 25, 2025 Posted September 25, 2025 What's in a word? "Best" or "Favorite(s)?" I tend to go for the hidden gems, the deep cuts with Sabs. Snowblind (LOVE that descending minor section at 1:40) Cornucopia (again the break at 1:43 just kills!) Sabbra Cadabra Hole in the Sky Symptom of the Universe You Won't Change Me She's Gone- should get a nomination for most unlikely tune from Sabs, next to Changes. Special Mention to Looking For Today- for the break and outro sections with a great descending riff! Shockwave- for one of the more memorable solos by Iommi IMO. 2 Quote
Brooks Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 The whole SBS album (minus Fluff). 3 Quote
