hamerjunkie Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I still listen to Fair Warning, VH one and VH two a couple of times a year...just because they are good records with good songwriting that has held up over the last 25+ years...my favorite obscure Halen song is "Somebody Get Me a Doctor".......
Travis Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Yup, F.U.C.K was the first cd I ever got. It got it on my birthday when I was in 7th grade I think. Killer album and one of my favorite tones of EVH's. Maybe that's blasphemy, but it was just so thick and creamy. Like a good pint of Guinness.

I got F.U.C.K. for my birthday too and the first Iron Maiden. I just found out I was seventeen then... Van Halen killed my right ear when I saw them live for the first time and I wasn't smart enough to see a doc afterwards. When I'm in a bar/ concert today and people talk to me the gotta talk to da left ear da right is too deaf
jerseydrew Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I have to add my 2 cents. Fair Warning is by far my favorite VH album. With 1984 and VH1 coming in at second and third.I read some previous posts where some of you said that VH1 "changed your life". That's cool, but for me it was Ozzy's Blizzard of Oz. After hearing that, I was "changed".
ecnal Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Here's my order of preference, but the top four are really close:Fair WarningVH1Diver Down1984W&C1stII5150Everything else tied for last.
Jason01 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I know I'll probably be ostracized for this one but I think 5150 is still my favorite VH album. VH1 would be a close second.
Submariner85 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 The original. It changed the world. Not a weak cut.Ice Cream Man? Sorry.

kurtsstuff Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Anything PRE Haggard..Hagger,,Hagar...whatever...Sorry Sammy
Caddie Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 why not, very very hard choice for me between the first album or fair warning, the first album.......well what can you say, it's why i'm on this site right now, totally changed my life, bought it at caldors after school in the 7th grade, like i said it changed my life forever as i'm sure it did for quite a few, that being said fair warning is so angry, visceral and just plain mean, in the end i gotta give slight edge to vh1 as it just flat out rips from beginning to end........................ The 1st Van Halen album, first groove was one of those rare "WTF was THAT" moments. We burned thru several sets of JBLs listening to that in the old college apartment. Everybody did. It was perfect for overpowering Al Stewart with his Year of the Cat or Time Passages. Or any other crap from that time period. btw, whatever happened to England Dan & John Ford Coley? Did they morph into Brooks & Dunn?
veatch Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 The original. It changed the world. Not a weak cut.Ice Cream Man? Sorry.Ummmmmmm .... Ice Cream Man rules. It ain't John Brim, but it kicks.Yes, VH is on the top of the list. Fair Warning ain't far behind, though.
Jones Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Call me a geek, but I was in 8th grade when 5150 came out and I still love it. Sammy sang his ass off.
veatch Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Who is this "Sammy" guy? That's CANDY man, not Ice Cream Man...
kizanski Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Who is this "Sammy" guy? That's CANDY man, not Ice Cream Man... LOL! "It says 'socket,' not 'sprocket'! Were the plumbers supposed to attend this show...?"
Disturber Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 The original. It changed the world. Not a weak cut.Ice Cream Man? And NO, there where no other real VH albums after that. Some of the guys however later made some 80's work out music with that guy Sammy. I think they made a shit load from it.
jorg Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Fair Warning is still my favorite. Someone said earlier they're all good for different reasons but I'll say most are good for different reasons. I never got to see them with Dave but have seen them 4 times with Sammy. Different bands to me. I wasn't a fan of Van Hagar until F.U.C.K. came out. I walked into a record store as this album started and loved it from the opening drums. I bought it without hearing anything else and it still kicks ass to me. Alot of people dis VH II but I'm glad to see there are some that like it. Light up the sky. . .
Scottcrud Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 1.Fair Warning2.Women and Children First3.Van Halen
Brooks Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 FAIR WARNING!! their dark masterpiece.then i like VH next, w/ the rest of the DLR era all tied for 3rd.so many jr high & high school memories are tied to that music.
