Scooter Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Here it is. It's 25" scale length with a FAT neck and a long tenon set neck. It pays homage to a few famous Hamers, don'tcha think? The 5-way rotory idea w/ a chicken head knob was taken from the Monaco 3. The hockeystick headstock will always be my favorite. Macassar ebony neck wrapped in flame maple binding with abalone inlays that match the tailpiece. A belly cut and a subtle neck heel contour make for comfy playing. Check out the figured Korina and the cherry wood stripes in the neck!
SirDouglas Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Very nice..... congradulations... i hope it shreds looooks very easy to play Sir Douglas Randy
pesocaster Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 BAD ASS!How about a full shot? ... and who built it?
Scooter Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 Here's a full shot of the front... ...and back. The pickups are: SD JB, Lil '59, Cool Rails. The 5-way rotary selects like a strat 5-way. Master volume and master tone - both pull up to split the coils. Built by Russell Lee Davis out of Florida.
tafkathundernotes Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I guess it's called a Superglide because "PHANTAWATSOMONAVECTARD" wouldn't fit on the headstock. That's a beauty! I'm loving korina more every day.
Scottcrud Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Hotdamn Scooter, I love it! Make mine a super thin neck and I'm in! Wait a minute, the Wife says not only no, but "F**k No!!!" Damn, if only I'd married a sugar moma.
Scooter Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 The builder doesn't have a website. It's a 2-guy tiny operation (Russ and Tony). They email you pics of every step in the building process for your approval. You really have a say in every detail! I printed out every pic and now I have a complete record of the creation of the Superglide - and it's a big book! If you have an idea for an off-the-wall creation, and noone else will build it, try these guys. The used to go by the name "Performaxe Guitars", but I think they are just calling themselves "Russell Lee Davis Guitars" nowadays. Tony: [email protected] Russ: [email protected] Oh, and for those that don't understand the name "Superglide", just take a look at the original Hamer Electraglide. (But PHANTAWATSOMONAVECTARD was my second choice )
BCR Greg Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Damn, Scooter, you put that triple ring to good use!Bring that to the HFC, I wanna play it!!!!
John E Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 You know, it's a fantastic guitar, but the thing that astounds me the most is the fretwork. Each of 'em looks like a jewel.
gfc55 Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 WOW! That is a beautiful guitar. I love the details like the bound ebony fingerboard and the meticulous build quality that just shines through in the photos.Enjoy it!
Michael_ Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 AWESOME! If i were to design a guitar it would be amazingly similar to that! Very unique and bold and it pulls it off well. Amazing.
jwhitcomb3 Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Very nice. Wood binding is a huge draw for me. Play the hell out of it!-Jonathan
Jorge Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 WONDERFUL guitar, I love the hockeystick headstock too. Congratulations.
Jason01 Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Very nice looking guitar, I'd say I wouldn't change a thing but then I'd have to learn to play right handed and thats just too damn much work. Grats on a neat guitar.
