atquinn Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Or at least it looks like they're working up to it. They aren't changing any of the pricing so what's the point? Free advertising while making it annoying for me to do Hamer searches? - Austin
Jorge Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 They want to make sure nobody wants them at those prices before lowering them.
atquinn Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Some of those guitars have been there for years. I think it's a pretty sure bet that nobody want them at those prices - Austin
Gino Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I wonder if Hamer/Fender wants to clear the market.I could see the same with my recent purchase (see my post earlier today). This German dealer had some NOS Hamers advertised since about after the time Fender took over for reasonable (at least for European standards) prices. I was lurking but didn't jump on it. Then, a few days ago, they dropped prices by another 500 EUR, making brand new guitars cheaper than used ones on the bay, while you get usually 80s and 90s Hamers there and not the newer stuff.Wonder if the Wilcutt prices will drop, too.

DaveL Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I think it's great advertising... awesome pictures. this thing is amazing. pricey thohttp://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-12-String-Bass-A...=item3a680b4475
conorb Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I really want one of the Magnificent 7 guitars. I called and talked to them a few weeks ago but was waiting on my finances becoming a little stronger before calling back and getting one.Maybe I should call and see what they're willing to get them out the door for - I wouldn't mind waiting a bit longer, but I don't want to miss out on a nice guitar either.conorb
atquinn Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 I love the specs on those Mag 7's, but the non-standard neck carve scares me. For some reason, I think it's bigger than the vintage carve?-Austin
atquinn Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Looks like they posted their Standards this morning.-Austin
ArnieZ Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 It seems many of the descriptions don't match the guitars ArnieZ
BlueRedWhite Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 They used to have Hamer Special Korinas with P-90s.. don't see them either...the Magnificent 7 are magnificent...

For some reason, I think it's bigger than the vintage carve? - Austin The neck on my Monaco Elite is pretty much perfect but I've found that I'm not too bothered by different neck sizes in general. It probably helps that I really don't play all that well anyway. Still, the description on the Magnificent 7's just says "custom neck carve" which could mean anything really. conorb

Edited to add: the Amberburst Superpro [with Piezo!] has me contemplating a draw on the old HELOC. Must exercise control!

Doesn't matter anyway, the wallet says no! - Austin
dboy66 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I got my Newport "Classictron" from Willcutts and had a good experience with them. I hardly ever buy new but I was able to offer them a couple hundred less than their listed price and get it,,, so maybe you could offer them less than what's listed on ebay,,, nice specs on this! no such luck.

I think I will call them back tomorrow and see if I can get some additional information on the neck carve in general and specific pricing. conorb
cynic Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I agree with the wallet assessment but it's going to be tough to pass on a Mag 7 in the long term.I think I will call them back tomorrow and see if I can get some additional information on the neck carve in general and specific pricing. No need to rush, they were made in 07-08 and less than half of the run of seven has sold. Having them for that long, I'd guess their pricing is pretty firm.
ArnieZ Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I wouldn't speculate on what they might do. If I was after a piece (I'm not), I'd call Eric and see if you can make a deal. I have always found them to be reasonable. They have a lot of Hamer stuff and I think it's on ebay because they want to move it!ArnieZ
cmatthes Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Listing 80+ Hamers at their regular selling price just looks like ad spam to me.

Edited to add: I might consider a custom order of my own after looking at THOSE prices. Also: Datzigs?!? At least they got the Jol part right. http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Standard-Custom-...=item3a681a6b28
BCR Greg Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Standard-Custom-...=item3a681a6b28 Gold knobs? WTF?
