There is cherry red finish in there. Nice job on the relocation of the switch huh?

A little dribble....

Cleaned up the back cavity and made a dowel for the moved switch hole.

That sat a few days to cure, started to take the finish off the top...

massive flame with the original sunbursted finish...

here is one of the main reasons why it was resprayed black,

all the top is cleaned off, I hit it with some naptha to show an increadible top... pictures do not do it justice, but you get the idea...

I was able to remove ALL the laquer with out harming the binding...

first coats of laq to seal the top, wet dry till flat, then shoot the black.

Top is sealed. Shot the black, scraped the binding, shot the clear coats.

Done. The seams do come up when buffing wheel friction is applied.

I am happy with the results, with the plan of attack in mind. Original nut went back on, plays like buttah ^_^

And is that a vintage Cecil's Bandstand Straplock? Or a newer Bandstand Straplock from Chuck?

nos i find them once in a while in small shops in a corner on a cardboard card. I buy them if I can find them. My favorite strap lock. I have some that are at least 30 years old. the best in my book.

An update, tone report. The B&C tuxedo sunburst is a brite mutha

compared to my other '79 which is big phat juicy lucy.

It will tear your head off. very tele / p90 wannabe. it rocks.
